I worked for the City of Portland's printshop for 31 yrs.

Retired last July at the age of 51...now my job is cashing my retirement check the 1st of each month which is more than when I was working image.

We had a great retirement system which made the decision to retire pretty easy.
  • I lurk on the forum and post once a year.

(Old man) Look I had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was, “That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah”.

(Priest) BLASPHEMY he said it again, did you hear him?

image What do you mean working 18 hours a day for a day's meal sucks? image

I was a "self-employed" Computer Consultant for 7 years (a big slice involving coding and database consulting). Never made more than 5 digits image But I liked it and still do my own coding on F/OSS software that I use.

Now, I am the General Manager, Chef, and Admin Ass. for a Restaurant/bar/likker-store in NW Wyoming (no man's land).....and still never made more than 5 digits image

  • I own a real estate school and a real estate brokerage. Mostly I teach classes and ride herd on agents, making sure they don't "screw up".
  • A topic I've been mulling over since my Honey (mis)quoted me Aristotle who stated that work is where you get paid and anything else is leisure.
I'm caregiver to 2 dogs, 1 parrot (not dead), 1 wolf-dog, 3 horses, 1 mule, 1 donkey, 5 acres where our house sits and 17 acres we're (read me) farming and, last but not least, a crazy psychiatrist who works full time and whose brain works overtime thinking up things I could do while he sits at a desk all day. All leisure, no pressure. At age 61 I love it!
Only she who attempts the absurd can achieve the impossible!

  • This threads has been going for a long time...

I spent 10 years in Canada as a foot specialist mostly in private practice, then I married an American moved to the US and now own a construction company for decks and renovations. Currently closing on a bar/resturant/rooming property and life keeps changing... somewhere back there between working for the hospital and going private practice I also spent a couple of years failing as a professional athlete....

  • I am active duty Coast Guard Lieutenant with almost 19 years of service and still having fun. I work as a liaison at FEMA HQ in the National Incident Management System Integration Center. For any of you fire folks and/or responders, this is bringing ICS to all the federal government as well as state and local. Pretty neat stuff.

I can't believe I read this whole thing.

Lots of interesting jobs out there.

Currently I'm an apprentice Electrician for a DCX assembly plant in Newark, DE. We build the Dodge Durango.

Currently there is a restyle coming for the '07 model year and soon a hybrid drive-train . Hopefully gas will come way down soon so we can survive the increasingly tight market out there.

P.S. Anyone drive a hybrid Honda or Toyota out there? Is it true a new battery is going to cost you ~ $5000.00? Hope they got a really long life.
