My monitor shows everything darker than it is, but after brightening this one with my software, I’d say the coin was cleaned some time ago and then darkened, perhaps on its own. I’d only grade the coin EF by sharpness and not AU. I don’t see any mint luster on this puppy, and it’s got a stain on the reverse that’s hard to ignore. The seller should have taken the $82 bid. It’s worth no more than that and probably isn't really worth that.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

"OK it's simple. You know how to copy and paste, right? When you either "reply" or "start a new topic" you'll see a tool bar above the window you type in. starting at left, first a B then I then U then a little TV screen ( atleast it looks like one) then "http". When you get to the point in your "reply" or "new topic" you want your link click that "http". You'll already have your address copied and now you paste it in the little window that just popped up. Click OK. Now type in the new window whatever you want the letters in blue to say, ya know the letters people will actually click on, click OK again. Thats it."
Here is the coin from the auction, but I color corrected it (assumed background was supposed to be white & it was photographed originally using incandescent lighting) Incandescent typically creates the yellow/brown cast to many photos. Since the coin is more metalllic gray, rather than warm brown of old copper coins, it appears to have been cleaned. However, you can speculate about colors until you're blue in the face.

yippee! but somehow the old address popped up in the first window even though I clicked on the correct sight. I manually corrected it. Does anyone know why this happened?
Since it's AU, assuming that it was possibly in circulation for a short time, it probably wouldn't have that RB color. My personal opinion is that it might have been cleaned in the past.

The picture is really dark. It could have been cleaned and the dark picture is hiding it?

If left alone on a desert island I couldn't re-invent the can opener, but I can make a link now.
