MESSAGE BOARD GOES CRAZY! FORBIDDEN WORDS???

I just responded to a thread and and was admonished that my post contained a "forbidden word," and that the word was highlighted for me to edit. The word was "con cerned"... although only the first four letters were highlighted... go figure!

Has anyone else had this happen?

Weireder yet... when I tried to post this, it again refused over the same word. (the spacing in this post is to get around it!?

Due to massive abuse of the phrase "I c-o-n-c-u-r" and various spellings of it - in the open forum - Carol had to disallow it. That's my understanding, anyway.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

That's strange!! I tried to use con cerned in the 33 double Eagle thread and had to say if the Egyptian government was worried about it instead. When I back clicked it to fix it it said I can't post the same reply twice. That's strange because lots of times my replies double post. And if you don't right click and copy your reply then ½ the time you loose it. I thought I knew all the bad words but what's con ? Maybe to keep it from offending the convicts on the board?

Yes, I had the same thing happen to me. This is stupid. They need to look the whole word, not just pieces.

i spent probably 2 hours of time trying to send one of our consultants a file that it wouldn't allow me to send because of "extreme vulgarity". there weren't even any words in the e-mail! somewhere within this huge access file were the words "dong" and "dyke"

we're taking this censorship thing just a bit too far...

    I concur.

Carol did this for the night only. I figured others would run into a problem. She'll unblock it this morning. Until then just work around it. Don't you concur?

  • It's back.
It's amazing how many of you use this word for legit purposes when so many do it to be "funny".

    Who knew?

Standard practice on the Open Forum is that if something was funny once, it's still supposed to be funny the 1,000th time. And the 10,000th.

dog, admit it, you are just trying to run up your message counts by replying twice...

I still don't understand why conc was forbidden... or was it some kind of "spam" issue?

I can think of some bad words like Fooey, darn, shucks, ickey, Galdarn, gosh, geez, *&$##@*, damnable as well as the most horrible word of all "ACCUGRADE". Why arent these words banned, even if its only in Boston? Bear image

Whenever I want to use a word for special effect (vulgar or not), it's usually in Spanish, Italian or Portuguese. I know some Arabic & Farsi, but that stuff's really nasty and I'd never post it here.
