I’m courteous to see what everyone is using to display their coin collections. Coin cabinets, display cases, ect.

Well, being “courteous” is to be commended.😉

It is downright unsafe to keep a collection of value in a safe or cabinet at home. Its not just random burglars that hit. There’s armed thugs w gun to your head. And then there’s the loose lipped service man/ men who talk to unsavory types that “ this guy has a safe in his home “.
A good friend had a very significant collection in two heavy duty safes in his basement. He had an airconditioning bteam come to his basement. Two days later several thieves broke in with acetylene torches , went to his basement, torched one safe open and severely damaged the other safe but ran out of fuel.
Some of his coins ended up being sold to a coin shop in an adjacent state but , while they were recovered, the two adjacent state police did not cooperate effectively and decades later the rest of the collection has never re- surfaced, tho traced to a receiver in a distant state with organized crime connections.
That collector/ friend left collecting along with his faith in local law enforcement. And this case could have been solved and the collection could have been recovered. I know. True story.
I recalled some of these previously and here are some threads from the past. One from me and I have made a couple of them now but scroll down for more. Some are rather professional looking.

Is anyone still making coin cabinets? I've loved seeing the vintage ones whenever they pop up.

To whom would someone display their collection to? Just curious because I cannot think of any instance that I would in a home setting.
Even if I had some close friends nearby that had the same interests, I still wouldn't display them. I would bring them out of Ft Knox now and then to view them for a bit, then back they go to Ft Knox to sleep under security.
