Custom coin display: home use

A while back I decided that seeing the coins I collect is as important as the chase so I embarked on finding a better way to display the coins at home.
Looking online I found a gentleman that makes pocket watch display cases in his spare time so after exchanging emails and mailing him a slabbed coin, we came up with a design.
I
Once I get it fully loaded I’ll add more photos. Plan to add led lights so the coins pop a bit more but overall I think he did a great job bending the glass and creating this design for me.

That is awesome! Really nicely thought and well done.

Where will these coins be displayed? Will they be visible to casual visitors and service persons? Security is always a concern of mine and the fewer people that know I collect coins the safer I feel.

These are displayed in our office at home. We prefer to have our collectibles on display. I don’t worry about theft here in my neighborhood in Texas. Been in the same house for 17 years and never had a problem.
Hi Johnny - I think it looks great! You might need a second one?

Awesomeness is all that comes to mind!!!
Ha
I actually do but my vision for this one was to display the Morgan date set when it’s finished.
The others are in different displays but not yet put out.
Mike the builder is going to send me some photos today of him building this along with his methods for bending glass which is pretty cool.
Maybe keep it coved when not in area or not home? Safety by not being seen (or spotted) 🤫
Outstanding case! 👍. It looks like Red Oak.

Very nice looking cabinet, I would be worried about out gassing especially with rattler holders.

Ok so leave the case open for a while to fix this?
Johnny,
What did you tell me your address was?😉😂

Should do it. Open it from time to time until there is no more smell.
It looks like its varnished. So once you can't smell the varnish, there's no more fumes to off gas. Full cure for typical products are 3-4 weeks.
I have rattlers i have put in varnished frames for 5 or 6 years now and nothing has happened to them toning wise.
Very cool!

Very attractive! That’ll make viewing your set a pleasure.
Sure puts my old wooden dinner trays display to shame. Well done. Coins and cabinets. James
Nice display! With that being said, as someone who was robbed before, be sure you're okay potentially having everything you have on display stolen - or at least have them fully insured.
That case is so cool. I want one also. Thanks for the details. It's also fortunate you found this craftsman.
It's my slow season but when things start moving I will be buying one.

Here’s the tool craftsman Mike uses to bend glass. Mike is 71 and told me he likes building things in his retirement so he doesn’t end up watching football all weekend 😆
I think LED lighting would be a great feature. Good luck. Peace Roy

I have created a BST thread for anyone that would like to create a case with Mike. The entire process is collaborative. Check the BST here:

Cool - Professional looking.
The base is to space adverse for my shelf(s) but the other thread you linked, the top part only is similar in size to a couple I have.
Are the shelves on the top part angularly adjustable (looks possible from the open back photo of it)? Also does the top part just rest on the base or is it attached?

It's probably just me being overly cautious, but leaving it open for a bit just to give it time to air out could be a prudent move just to be sure. Rattler holders are not always completely sealed so those are the only ones I would be concerned with.

This is an amazing piece of craftmanship. It might be the best method of displaying slabs that I've ever seen.

He can do wall mount only if you want see the BST. Mine has a wing nut that connects the upper portion to the bottom portion.
Yes thanks.
I have it open

Thanks, that covers it. I would be a wall mount but not mounted. I just have them resting on the top shelf of a metal bookcase-like set of shelves. Hmmm.. If that word salad made sense.

In high humidity environments, i would put a dessicant pack inside the case, and if there's a spot where it cant be seen, you could also use corrosion intercept lining such as this:
