CBH collectors and all: My 1825 CBH PCGS AU55/CAC sold for $1,462.50 on GC tonight

What am I missing here?
How did this coin more than double its price in 16 months?
I won the coin from Heritage in September of 2023 for $630.
Should I be shouting for joy or did I miss something?

Silly money for that coin IMO, but such seems to be the market for CBH with color and CAC at the moment. We'll see if it holds.
I had on watch just the same to see. I was surprised.
I think you should do a little dance!

Maybe Heritage should consign to Great Collections!!
P53, P55 and P58 CBH's with CAC on Heritage have also been VERY strong lately, ESPECIALLY with color. Just FYI

It may have nothing to do with the venue. Auctions can be volatile. The addition or subtraction of one bidder can change everything.
Just comes down to who needs and wants it. I paid like 5x for a coin just because. Keeps it interesting. Cheers to you.
One factor may be the Great Photo looks a hell of a lot better than the Heritage photos.
Congrats on the great result. Here’s another interesting result. Nice Dahlonega $5 sold tonight for $5,175. Link here: https://www.greatcollections.com/Coin/1745466/1854-D-Liberty-Gold-Half-Eagle-Large-D-PCGS-XF-40-CAC-Green
Same coin sold for a stupid $6k in 8/22/21 via Heritage. Resold via heritage again 9/17/23 for a more reasonable $4k. Now it’s squarely between those prices. Interesting.
Yes, Phil helped the sale. Excellent pictures.

Where the hell were you when I had my GC auctions a few months ago?
All l know, is that when I bid strong for a coin against other bidders, when I go to sell, those other bidders are all gone.
All it takes is two strong bidders with deep pockets; there's a lot of crazy money out there now. Maybe the buyer's logic was skewed by looking at other examples in the 58-62 range and finding your coin high end and worth strong bids. Common not "hot" numismatic material can do poorly on GC, look at all the reviews, google, yelp, not just the 5 star ones.
Congrats - impressive coin / super result.
Thank you.
It is a really nice coin. I was just pleasantly surprised at the result.
I'm sure the new owner will be very happy with the coin.
This 1825 CBH exhibits some nice luster as well as lovely cartwheel on both sides.
Hey, JA approved. 😉
Does G.C. issue a 1099k for coins sold?
Value only influences the competitiveness of bidders.
