    No, it won't pass

I guess the question is if the mark in the left obverse field is disqualifying at 67. My guess is yes it is but I am very prepared to be wrong.

    Yes, Green CAC

I think it has nice original toning, but I don’t like the abrasion/scuff In the left facing obverse field. I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt and hopefully for you it will pass. I like everything else about the Coin. ;)

I love the look but do not think it gets the bean. Just appears to have too many focal marks to warrant a bean at 67. I hope I'm wrong for your sake. Again, I love the look and the originality.

Just echoing what has already been said, it has that MS68 blueish lustrous tint look. But that field disturbance and the bit of scruffiness on the neckline combined hold it back. Hope I'm wrong with all three.

Just a few to many obverse grazes for my liking at 67.

Having read in one of your previous threads that JA is tough on quarters, I’m going to say the odds are stacked against this one.

I will say no but that probably ups your odds of having it get JA's blessing.

I don't know, but there are a number of luster breaks, maybe too many.

No, it won't pass becaues of the mark in the left field in front of Washington's eye and bridge of his nose.

If it were a better/deeper strike to me then yes. I do like the grade and coin 🙂

The reverse is an absolute knockout and strong 67. The obverse looks weaker due to what has already been commented on above.

I like it as a 67 but doubt it would green bean at that level.

I really like the coin, Eric, even @ the 67 grade. But, no bean; like others have said, the mark in front of the portrait means “no go” from JA & co.

I’ve learned that near unanimity regarding a CAC-related question is indeed possible. :)

I haven’t observed any patterns indicating that CAC is tougher on quarters than on other denominations.

I would say no on the bean.

Good to know. I don’t have any personal experience with quarters.

I think it is over-graded as an MS67, too many contact marks and a bit of a soft strike. I do like the overall pearl-esque look to it.

Mark…you heard it first here! 😉. Beautiful coin but that gouge at the base of Washington’s neck is the ‘no go’ for me.

    RESULT POSTED IN THIS COMMENT

    The final forum tally:

    Result: ❌ Did not pass
    Reason: Obverse abrasions

Not much to say about this one, since almost everyone nailed it (90% forum consensus—wow). I didn't expect this one to pass either, for the correct reason, so not much to learn for me. Attractive coin, but too much happening on the portrait to meet CAC's standards for a 67. (Don't mind the poor photo quality below, just wanted to show the sticker)

(note: I'll be sharing results for all 5 posts from this submission over the coming days—I don't want to crowd out other people's threads on the front page by updating them all at once)

Glad they're appreciated. I think there's a lot of hindsight bias when one knows definitively that a coin has either passed or failed, so it's interesting to spin these up and get different perspectives before the results are known.
