Lionel, yes the planes from OC are larger jets but at the time I checked for flights, the only one that had a larger plane connection to OKC had a half hour connection which won’t work for me. When I checked, all the other connections that would work for me were on smaller planes.
.
.
FYI - I have done a lot of AA and about a couple years ago I noticed that AA had some type of shift in their advanced scheduling.
I can't explain it but often when I check flights far in advanced they can have a short connection time. But most often those times change. This is not true for all of them but some or many.
Example is the upcoming Baltimore when I checked early all but one or two connections were 40/50 minutes which I don't like and many had the exact same amount of connection time. However, I recently checked and the flight times and connections had changed (which I have seen previously). Some minimally and other a lot. I got one at 1:40 layover but the other was still 0:50 so I got an earlier flight and now have 2 1/2 + hour layover but I like that over 0:50.
Glancing at SNA to OKC through DFW with the larger planes I think they were all currently 0:40 layover. I suspect that will change (if it works like mine have) and hopefully get something better / longer. Might be worth checking back on if you are wanting to try to attend. Also for those later two flights it looks similar to what I did for Baltimore and take the earlier flight and get a longer and/or long layover (but these times might change also so similarly need to watch). First one is 2:50 layover and last 2:30, currently (as I recall). That last flight would be kind of late for me. Don't know if this helps anything or if perhaps the history of OKC not being a coin city that you mentioned previously is overriding.
I've never been to a show there. But confirm that they will have adequate air conditioning - I went through Oklahoma City in August one time, and it was hot.

It's a 30 minute drive for me so I'll be there. If anyone needs restaurant recommendations, etc. let me know.
Post ‘em! Good restaurants and any local attractions/sites worth visiting may help folks decide to come.
I'm a cattle guy so steak is my area of expertise. The most iconic steakhouse in OKC is Cattlemen's. You'll get a good steak at a decent price, but it's a bit of a drive from the convention center to the Stockyards. If you're looking for something more upscale and closer to downtown/the Bricktown area, Mickey Mantle's is good, but my personal favorite is Mahogany. Bricktown also has plenty of other bars and restaurants.
As far as area attractions go, the Bombing Memorial is something that I think everyone that visits OKC should see. If you are a fan of James Earle Fraser (designer of the Buffalo Nickel) you can see End of the Trail (posted by @breakdown) at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. If you like Native American history and culture the First Americans Museum is a must, and if you have kids the OKANA Resort and Indoor Waterpark (owned by the Chickasaw Nation) is nearby and should be open by then. Finally if you're into "fine art" the OKC Museum of Art has an outstanding Dale Chihuly exhibit.
I hope everyone comes to OKC and has a great time with plenty of great coins!
I have stopped going to shows for health reasons, but I am informed that I have been nominated for an award for which I might make the effort. It depends.

I haven’t gone to a show in several years and have decided to take a couple of personal days off to attend.
I won’t be doing any business there - just looking at coins and socializing. 😉
Mark, would love to be able to talk you into coming to Long Beach.

It's just a 5-1/2 hour road trip from Austin TX so I'm planning on attending. I look forward to meeting and learning from everyone that knows way more about coins than I.
August in OKC can be brutal. Been there more times than I can remember. But that's what AC is for. Lol

I'm not excited about it, but I'll be there.

I kind of have to go, like @oih82w8 (whom I ran into at Grapevine a few months back), it's almost local: Google estimates it's 2h31m door to door.
I've enjoyed several shows in the OKC area.
And I was in Conroe for HMS on Friday, and that was 3h15m (466.7 miles for the day), which (with Tulsa) is maybe the limit.

Fortunately for you, there’s plenty of time to get excited about it.😀

Highly unlikely… hope those those that attend enjoy all there is to explore.

I will be there the whole week! Now living in Vegas it’s a lot easier. Though of course I would be attending even if I were still in Boston.
I'll most likely give it a shot. It's a partial day drive.
