Reminds me of days gone by when Oklahoma and Nebraska were the terrors and 60 point favorite days.

@Basebal21, why is it that every time a team from down south loses there's an excuse?? Miami(Fla) lost because the officiating was a joke and their QB had a terrible game. LSU lost because the best LB in the country is hurt and their QB is on the mend. It never stops. Nobody in the south ever loses because they play a better team and nobody in the SEC is mediocre, every team is a powerhouse and they just keep knocking each other off.
Enough already. Settle in and watch Ohio State like me, hoping they don't lose. This is the point in the season when they sleep through a game. If they get past Wisconsin I'll relax.

Pretty much. Oklahoma has kind of come back this year but not to that extent where they just run over everyone.

If youre worried about Wisconsin wjo hasnt been competitive and is getting killed like pretty much everyone else knew they would be you have very little faith in your team. Ill stick to watching the 2 real games with Ole Miss GA and Texas Tech ASU instead of watching probably the worst power 4 team in Wisconsin get dominated

You're talking quite literally about games played before some of the members here were even born. College football was a completely different game then and focused almost exclusively on the running game. Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska and other teams were very innovative. I remember the old TV commercials with Ara Parseghian and I think a Chevy wagon with a 3-way tailgate. They did a take-off on the triple option that Notre Dame was using at the time.
Stubborn Head Coaches like Woody Hayes refused to change, hence the phrase 3-yards and a cloud of dust was born.

I miss 80's college football, the different types of offenses were the best part of it
Wisconsin needs to just go ahead and fire Fickell. Moore at Oregon isnt that good but Wisconsin wont be competitive in that game either making them 0-6 against power 4 teams and not being competitive.
FL fans should be cheering for State to beat them. Makes it a lot easier to fire Nappier after a loss before the bye week which the firing is long overdue. Somehow the refs also managed to call a State FG that was good a miss so theres that too
Well, the Buckeyes took care of business today so I guess we at least know who will be ranked 1st in the AP Poll, after that is anybody's guess. Looks like another 4-5 teams in the Top 10 may lose today.
Ohio State --- beat Wisconsin.
Miami --- lost to Louisville.
Indiana --- beat Michigan State.
Texas A&M --- beat Arkansas.
Ole Miss --- lost to Georgia.
Alabama --- not yet underway.
Texas Tech --- lost to Arizona State.
Oregon ---beat Rutgers.
Georgia --- beat Ole Miss.
LSU --- lost to Vanderbilt.

Go ahead and put ND in the playoffs now even though they lost to the two good teams they played. Super soft schedule remaining and would really have to just completely blow it to catch another loss
It's getting harder and harder to try to figure out who should be included, after the first 4 teams it's a scrum of teams that can't figure out who they can beat and they can't beat. Never seen it like this before and I've been watching College football since the late 1960's.

In the late night game, Stanford defeats Florida State 20-13. This was the first ever meeting between the two teams in history. This will probably go down as one of the biggest upsets of the year as Florida State was a 17.5 point favorite. The game ended at 2:10 AM eastern time.
FSU got robbed of a TD in that game, but theyve clearly just given up on the season.
As for the rankings I dont know what the voters are going to do but I dont see anyway one could justify ND being ahead of Miami. Miami has a better record, played a harder schedule, and beat ND when they played head to head
@Basebal21, my reasoning is that it's always better to lose early in the season, a late season loss is historically more costly than one early. Look at the Alabama loss and go through your logic of what was happening with the Tide then and now. After that loss you were ready to fire the HC, now he looks pretty good. It's the same with the Irish, the team is playing better now than early on. Alabama and Notre Dame would probably both exit the Top 10 if they had those early season losses this week.
If you apply the same thinking to all teams it makes a difference.
An interesting point: every spot in the Top 25 changed this week except.........................Ohio State at number one. I still think there are teams that are over-ranked, Texas A&M/Georgia/Miami, but they will get sorted out in the coming weeks as the turmoil will continue. That's the great thing about "parity" and a bunch of average teams, no record is safe and no spot in the playoff format Top 12 is safe until the final vote.
I have said it many times here, until these teams start playing each other during the regular season than the talk is just talk. You might think the SEC is "loaded" and I might think the teams are equal and "average" but we don't know because they are all afraid to play each other. It's too risky with the current playoff format. Much better to schedule Grambling and Southeaster Louisiana, etc. than a more powerful opponent that might result in a loss.
And it bears repeating: the AP Voters aren't more informed or better equipped to rank these teams than either of us. Their pre-season Poll proves that.

Im still not sold on the Bama coach but that loss seems to have been a blessing in terms of them actually playing hard again which they dont always do under him. Theres going to be more chaos with the coaching cycle with Eli and Kiffin trying to be poached and LSU is considering firing Kelly which was also a weird match from the start for the program. A lot more jobs are going to come open which will throw a wrench into everything
The A&M Ark game that was just a weird situation. Ark is better with Petrino who will probably get that job full time again, but that game was like 10-15 minutes from kickoff. Weather caused a 2 hour delay where players had to calm down and get warmed up again instead of playing a 6 hour game like TCU Baylor with all the weather delays.
With ND Miami though early loss or middle of the season loss Miami beat them, has had a harder schedule, and a better record. The fact that ND is even 12 is just getting the ND bounce. No other team in the top 15 has 2 loses and they barely beat PSU.
Its just like how Georgia shouldnt be able to jump Bama unless they both win out and beat Bama to win the conference in Atlanta.
I do agree a lot of the voters including the playoff ones dont really watch much like last year when SMU got the higher playoff seed over Clemson even though Clemson beat them the week before. So far they seemed to have fixed that issue and I dont really have complaints on the rankings this week.
Miami is going to live and die on how Beck plays, theyll drop quickly if he keeps playing like this week, but they likely will win out with what they have left on the schedule. All their hardest games are behind them.
I disagree that Miami has had a hard schedule, as all of their games have been in their home State, including the ND game. I think if those two teams played today, ND would win. Texas A@M has a pretty weak defense, so they will lose eventually. Lucky for them they do not play either Alabama nor Georgia.
Good to see Indiana at #2. Their fans have suffered for so long before last year.
Home state doesnt mean home game. Its not a home game when Bama goes to Auburn, or when Texas A&M goes to Texas etc. Kentucky and Louisville are about an hour from each other and it doesnt mean its a home game for either unless one of them is trash which Kentucky is this year and will likely fire their coach
