Let's move on to 1879, the first of twelve consecutive years of low Philadelphia mint production.

PCGS XF40 - purchased from GFRC in 2015.

PCGS AU50 - purchased from the Carolina collection in 2015.

PCGS VF30 CAC - purchased from Harry Laibstain in 2016. Wish I still had this one!

PCGS AU55 - purchased from Lenny Rizzo in 2020.

PCGS XF45 - purchased from GFRC in 2023.

PCGS F12 CAC - from an eBay auction in 2023, the current coin in my set. Upgrade desired.

I will have nothing to contribute from 1879-1890, sans a lovely, lonely 1886. I have never been able to get excited about this range as these dates were mainly treated like proofs and I have not focused on proofs although after watching Rhedden's posts it give me pause. I know low grades exist and if I were focused on this range grades would be in the 35-58 range.

XF details. The second (and last) details coin in my set. I hate this coin and it's the first one on the list to replace. Good luck though, unless you want an MS65, this coin is impossible to find.

XF40 - very nice coin. Came with a CAC sticker before the reholder.
