Freddie, yes, I am both. Very nice examples of those two dates!
I'm trying to pace the progression so that the entire series is covered before I go on vacation May 2nd.
Man I feel like I'm at work - lol
p45 MPD purchased from @oih82w8 in 2019. The toning is a screamer for the grade!
P50 purchased from Lynn Ourso (Very nice person) This coin has some decent color going for it too plus an uncommon MM placement. I see Doug's xf45 cac has the same mm location.
P45cac ebay 2008 raw. I can't seem to fine my 48-o
It is not that life is short, but that you are dead for so very long.
This thread is bringing back so many fond memories of coins long gone. And thanks to everyone for your continuing participation! Please post your 1849 and 1850 quarters.

PCGS AU53 CAC - purchased from Mike Verhulst in 2023, the current coin in my set.
PCGS XF40 CAC - purchased from the Carolina collection in 2015. Other than the AU53 CAC 1843-O quarter, I miss this coin more than any other coin from my previous sets.
PCGS VG8 CAC - purchased from Mike Verhulst in 2022.
NGC XF40 CAC - purchased from Kearney Coin Center in 2022, the current coin in my set.
PCGS VF35 CAC - purchased from Revick Galstaun in 2015.

@Crepidodera I see several sweet coins in that last group, but the 1849 PCGS AU53 and the 1849-O PCGS XF40 really stand out. 1849-O is no slouch in XF and higher grades, never mind with nice surfaces.
1849 PCGS XF40
1849-O PCGS F12
1849-O PCGS VF30
1850 PCGS XF45 "1" on lower rim
1850 PCGS AU58 "1" on lower rim
1850-O PCGS XF40 - has traces of luster and feels like XF45 to me
@rhedden said: @fastfreddie That "XF45" 1848 is a problem coin. The problem is that it's an AU55 in an XF45 holder. Send it back!
I felt the same, but maybe 50 or 53. But after seeing others posted in similar grade it would appear that the grading is about right. Seems there is little variation between xf40 and AU53 in look on many coins here I've seen. Of course viewing in hand may bring little nuances that make the difference.
It is not that life is short, but that you are dead for so very long.
Let's see your 1851 and 1852 quarters, two challenging dates in the liberty seated quarter series.

1853 anyone? One of the more interesting years of liberty seated quarter production. The most common and
rarest (in my opinion) Philidelphia mint coins of the series.
PCGS AU55 CAC - purchased from GFRC IN 2014. Never liked this coin very much, too dark.

Very nice @rhedden!

@Manifest_Destiny - There's no comparison between your XF45 1844-O and mine... and mine is the loser.

@rhedden that's a perfect 1845 quarter!

My apologies for posting my A&R out of date order. Need to read more carefully!
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
I'm woefully shy in the SLQ department, I have a few but nothing that approaches a set.
I guess they don't upload in the order selected Sorry!
Welcome to the club.
XF40 - obviously cleaned and retoned. I hope I find a better one at some point.
1847 PCGS XF40, nice for the grade
1848 PCGS AU50, from DLRC, also nice for the grade
@Crepidodera I think my 47-o is the same coin you got in 2014.

Keep up the good work Freddie, and let me know if you find your 48-O.
I'm not sure Don, my 2014 1847-O had a mark in the field by liberty's nose that I don't see on your coin. But they do look very similar.

Don, you're correct, I once owned your 1853 -O. All three are very nice!

1853 Arr. PCGS AU53 CAC - the single most common Seated 25c by a country mile
1853-O PCGS XF45 - a condition rarity
Freddie, that's a really nice coin for $35!
Let's finish the day with 1854, a common year. I've never owned a huge O. It's always available, and the price is too high for a variety.
PCGS VF35 - from a Stacks Bowers auction in 2014.
