I very much like this card, too! I wanted an action shot of Seaver showing his pitching motion…and was down to this card and his 1977. I ended up choosing his 1977…but you can not go wrong with either card. Congrats on this pickup!

Awesome.
My 3 favorite Seavers are the 74, 76 RB and 77. All 3 are super-cool.

This one is a little different - not expensive but I’ve been looking since 2021. Picked up the Topps UK Jose Ramirez gold parallel /25. This is #79 in my attempt to get a super rainbow. I have every parallel of flagship, chrome, Ben baller, opening day, holiday, Japan, and factory set. I need 2 more from UK - purple /50 and red /5. Also need the red sapphire /5. It’s been a fun ride.
Another bold signature for the set. Unfortunately, when I tried to add the cert to my set PSA doesn't recognize it as PSA/DNA only PSA authenticated. I tried calling PSA customer service but got the dreaded call back tomorrow message. The last time this happened to me I had to mail the card to PSA and they reholdered it and added it to their PSA/DNA database. But that was years ago when turn around service was a lot quicker. Oh well.
Big fan of the 90's Topps Finest cards. I am a bit of a no coating kind of guy with these. Lets you see the card a bit better. They come in pack with the film coating applied with writing on the film "Topps Finest Protector - Peel and Remove Coating".

Agreed! I always peel my 1990's Finest cards, especially the Refractors.
Do you or @NGS428 have tips in removing the coating?
I have a couple that I just can't get started.
I don't want to keep picking at it.
Usually pick the corner that looks the most free and start to gently work it back. Card sits on a microfiber cloth and also one on top when holding the card. I assume you have a similar method. Some are just a bit stubborn that is for sure.
Just like NGS said. I even use a magnifier to locate the weakest spot in the coating, then use small tweezers to start peeling so I don't have to pick at it. Then, just go slowly.
Bud Anderson actually signs with high success through the mail. Biercevicz has a decent success rate too, but takes forever on returns. But it's Byron McLaughlin that makes this card difficult.
McLaughlin was a pitcher who converted from playing outfield, and after just a few years and a 5.11 ERA, he quit baseball altogether and got into a new game: counterfitting sneakers.
Fom the mid to late 80's McLaughlin was a middle man in this operation bringing sneakers that were made in South Korea into the United States through Mexico. He was eventually caught and indicted on charges of trafficking counterfeit goods and money laundering. The charges carried a sentence of up to 20 years in prison. However, McLaughlin posted bail, and fled the United States for France. He has not been seen since. To this day, nobody knows if he still resides in France, Mexico, or is dead.
It's a very fascinating story, and makes for this card to be very rare, especially with all three players to have signed it. I'm glad to have it in my collection. Most slabbed cards that I buy for this set I crack out and put into a binder. This one will be going in my display case. Out of the 777 autos needs for the set, I am now down to needing just 32!!!

Added this....always loved the horizontal 74's. May do a run to put up on a shelf.
Finally bit the bullet and sent this to Kareem
Balco…

Technically poor or at best fair but tough to find and gets me to 4/5.

This is a very beautiful and tough set; I love photo quality images from this era. The three latest examples get me to 10/18 on the set:
1930 W554 Mickey Cochrane
1930 W554 Mickey Herb Pennock
1930 W554 Hack Wilson

Finally did some scanning, here's some of my August bounty

Here's a link to the Sports Illustrated story regarding Byron McLaughlin. Interesting character, for sure.

A generous birthday gift from my brother! I've never owned a graded pack. Thinking about opening it..lol. Looks like Blue Jay Alan Ashby on the back.
I gotta say, it was a heck of a month ladies and gentlemen. Busy month!
