1920 P Standing Liberty Quarter, Raw

I bought this raw on ebay in maybe 1998, long enough ago that I have no record. It sat in a Whitman Bookshelf album since then. Popped it out a year or two ago and replaced it with a different 1920. Probably gonna send in for grading.

Did it look like that when it went into the Whitman Bookshelf album?

Looks very nice. FH and near Gem (or Gem), at least that's how it appears.

Is that a broken collar on the reverse rim?

Except for some weakness in the date area, it's a real nice coin.

    Very well struck, too.

I never noticed that. I'm not sure what that is.

No. It was white when I put it in. My picture organization is nowhere what it is today, so I may or may not have an old picture.

If the other coins in the set match, that is one nice collection!

They're not all this nice. I posted pics of my album years ago on this forum, but the picture hosting and even the forum platform have changed so that thread no longer has any pics. I started collecting this series in 1998 or so, and this was actually, as I recall, one of the first coins I paid over $100 for. It's so long ago, but i think it was about $120. The first coin was a raw 1917 P and I think this was the second coin I purchased. Over the years, I've bought a few in the several hundred and cracked them out, but for the most part, I have a collection of AU in my album, and another more expensive generally stays in a slab.

Though not a tarnish fan, I can see that coin has great detail and should grade well. Please let us know the results. Cheers, RickO
