Going a route I never tried before. GOOD NEWS! For me. UPDATE!
Hi guys,
Yesterday, in an auction I just won.
It's a spectacular 1930p Mercury Dime w/ dazzling white cartwheels! Of course, w/ FB, as well. Bought it for $75, minus shipping.
The guy is a very good friend from YouTube.
Very trustworthy and a informative collector.
The coin looks that it may hit at least a 65, maybe a 66?
Well in those two grades, the coin is at least worth around $300 -$600! If, the coin should hit the 66 plateau. Monster value! Like mentioned earlier, my friend is very generous in auctioning his coins at low, low prices!
Anyway, the different route I'm taking is instead of waiting for me to receive my Merc. than submit myself. He's going to submit the coin straight to PCGS for me! Since he said he's sending some of his coins in, as well!
Oh, I did send him the additional $30 for submission.
This route should cut my waiting time nearly in half, no?
Can't wait for fall to arrive (even though I love the summer) that's when I expect my coin to come home!
Thanks

Good luck @JoeyCoins ... Hope it all works out for you. Cheers, RickO
Good move, smart move, good luck.
This scenario screams problem after problem after problem. I could see a lawsuit coming from a thing like this based off a switched coin, sellers remorse, losing the coin, etc. Trust me when I say get the coin in your possession and submit to pcgs through a neutral third party dealer if you need help submitting.
Oh, I thought you were on Route 66.![:) :)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Post some pics of the coin Joey!!
I really don't know why this would cut your waiting time in half. It will save you 2 days of shipping
... assuming the dealer doesn't hold the coin for weeks before submitting it.
Ask yourself this: if this dealer regularly submits coins for grading, why would he sell a $300+ coin for $75?
It's funny you say that!
I am on RT. 66!

Why would he sell for $75?
I said, he's generous.

I'm not sure about cutting the wait time in half but it should help a little bit.
Disclaimer: I'm not a dealer, trader, grader, investor or professional numismatist. I'm just a hobbyist. (To protect me but mostly you! 🤣 )
I don’t know about this. Seems like a lot of potential pitfalls.
I would get coin ‘in hand’ and then do as I like, regardless of a few extra days!
I wish you luck, but this is a $75 in MS64 without FB and, as labeled (MS66+FB) it is over $1,000. Since this seller is going to a show to do a walkthrough, why wouldn't they do the walkthrough on the coin while they still owned it instead of selling it for little more than 5% of its claimed value? Something doesn't smell right.
GIGO.

Not to pile on, but this comment in the OP caught my eye:
"Like mentioned earlier, my friend is very generous in auctioning his coins at low, low prices!"
Auctions end where the bidders, not the seller, decide.
Even if he started an auction low, it would be bid up to what the bidders think it's worth. 🤔
In any case, I hope it works out and it's a big score.
Heritage is very generous also. Most of their auctions start at $1 with no reserve...I should be rich by now....hmmmm....
A lawsuit over a $75 coin? I don’t think so.
I just watched, and what I saw was someone explaining that an XF coin was details because it didn’t have the same cartwheel lustre and one he thinks is going to grade 67. That comparison… doesn’t instill much confidence in grading ability to me. Also, that merc doesn’t look full bands to me from the poor view we got.
I’d like to think that I’m a generous person, but that shows up in being nice and giving to charity. If I sell something and leave almost its full value in the table, I screwed up, I wasn’t being purposefully generous. I’d be shocked if this coin comes back as he says.
He places "BIN" (Buy it NOW) on some auctions!
I BINNED it at $75! Auction, then stops!
Thanks 😊

We shall see what happens.
Thanks for all the advice, guys!
Like I said, different route. I like to take risks, as you probably know me. Lol
I won't die if I lost $75+.
🙂

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I wouldn’t trust that guy’s ability to grade anything. The 1880-O Morgan Dollars in the beginning he keeps describing as DMPL are plainly not (and don’t look 63+ or 64 either). A 63+DMPL 80-O is a $4000 coin. He’s going to sell that for $475?
Even if you think he is being generous, how do you think he acquired the coins to be able to offer them at 10% of full value?
He has even more generous suppliers.![;) ;)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)

@JoeyCoins I wish you luck with your submission. For a few dollars it will be fun. I hope things turn out to your best advantage. One thing we all get from this forum is a way of looking at things from all angles. I think your good. Let us know how you do.

I could use a few YouTube friends...
🤔
The likelihood of a “friend” selling you a $300-600 coin for $75 is virtually nil.
FWIW
Just received great news! At least for me, anyway. Lol

My "friend" just gave me a heads up. While he was at the FUN Show in Florida. He said, he had just submitted my Mercury Dime to NGC on the premises!
He told me, "NO EXTRA CHARGE!"
On-site grading is a whole lot more than the $30 I sent him.
Also, great news knowing I will receive my coin back much earlier than ,"the other route!"
Hopefully, by next week!

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.Currently, the NGC website is showing that they are accepting coins for grading at FUN, but they are not showing that they are doing onsite grading at FUN. The next onsite grading offered by NGC is at the ANA in the second week of August.

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line. But I thought you wanted the coin to get graded by PCGS?
Problem #1 in your “different route” scenario has arisen
Got that right!
All my friends would be trying to sell me a $75 coin for $300……….😂
Correct, he didn't charge you extra in exchange for him not having to pay to ship the coin.
When you get it back in a slab, let us know how it grades.
Yes, plus, the fee at the show was $43. I paid, $30.

My graded Mercury should of surfaced by now?
However, my buddy that sent to grade it (At the NGC table) at the show. Reminded me that Hurricane Idalia
just hit in the Florida area. This probably is the reason for the delay.
One thing I noticed going back to my thread here!
Look who posted first, under my OP.
Our old good friend,
RickO!

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.Your friend... I'll leave it at that. He submitted a coin in July. The reason for the delay from July to September is that there was a hurricane THIS week???
How about the delay is just the normal NGC turnaround time? If he feels the need to blame a hurricane....? Why?
... Why?
Isn't NGC based in Florida?
![:* :*](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/kiss.png)
Maybe their facilities got effected?
And/or the shipping planes/vehicles were delayed?
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.NGC is not PCGS.
both are top grading companies .
But for myself having a registry set on PCGS, I prefer PCGS!
For 2 days out of 2 months.
So you're guaranteeing it arrives this week? Was it in QA? Shipping? Did you ask?
It can take 2 months to get a submission back.
Just to give you an idea of things, my NGC submissions that I gave them at their booth at the FUN show were completed and shipped back to me on 7/31/23. One order of coins that I gave NGC at their booth at the Pittsburgh ANA shipped the day before the hurricane hit this past week, and another conservation order got completed the day after the hurricane (Thursday).
I want to make sure you’re prepared to lose this coin and the money, because NGC is not on a 50-60 day turnaround right now.
@joeykoins what ever happened with this? I saw something similar on facebook that reminded me of this thread.

Well, unfortunately, it got stolen along with other coins from that order.
Yep, I believe it true because we are waiting on the insurance route to take place.
Oh well?
Who knows, maybe you guys were right?
We shall see.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.Color me suspicious. Ask him to refund you immediately. The insurance scam problem is his not yours.
Ask him if you can buy the coin for full retail. That might help the post office find it.
Sounds like you would have been better off to have the coin sent directly to you instead of trying to speed up the clock. Without photos of the actual coin there is no way to prove the coin was stolen or if it did make a lofty FB grade with NGC. He may be a YouTube friend but selling a coin for $75 when it might fetch $1000 after grading would sway some unscrupulous sellers to reevaluate their deal. Stolen…..maybe but I would be suspicious without proof.

Yes, very suspicious, I'm afraid.
Maybe it came back graded higher than he expected.![:* :*](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/kiss.png)
The tracking number would provide some evidence.
@joeykoins Ask him for the NGC registration number and see if it is your coin. After all, your friend told you after TWO MONTHS that the hurricane was slowing return. That suggests that the coin was at NGC and if it was "stolen" it would have been on the way back to you. As such, he should have the coin registration number with the appropriate grade.
It got stolen? At what point? Since it was supposedly submitted to NGC in person at a show then he has paperwork to prove the submission and during the several months you were waiting for the coin there would have been updates from NGC on the status of the coin. So, it appears that it must have been stolen during shipping back to your friend or that while in the possession of your friend he suffered what insurance calls a "mysterious loss". Regardless, if it were stolen during shipping then NGC would have had it graded and will have a record of the grade assigned. So, what did it grade?
Look, I was suspicious from the beginning and that hasn't changed.
