If you mean US coins, I think one of these is my oldest, depending on how you define US coins.
If you mean oldest worldwide, I think this is my oldest slabbed one, but I have some raw ones even older that I don’t have pictures of. It’s a Scottish Groat from 1371-90
While remaining a topic of debate by some, this type (a Lydian trite) is commonly considered to be the first official coin, meeting all of the requirements laid out in the accepted definition: it is the first coin to have certified markings which signify a specific exchange value and be issued by a governmental authority for use as money. Earlier coins like the striated and geometric types failed to clearly meet the final criteria, whereas the lion was consistently associated with Lydia.

Amazing coin! I never get tired of looking at it!
What are the contenders for the very first coin? Are they also from Lydia or are they from other places?
Myb first pre-33 I bought (thus oldest in my collection) Purchased 1/2009. First non modern gold purchase. Haven't visited the coin since the pandemic.
Oldest dated coin that I own (haven't dated since) ... Purchased before my age of enlightenment.. (one of 6 non gold coins that I own).

Nice BB-115! That was (in auction) at Central States 14 years ago. Never saw a mint state one of those. In the census I maintain, it is in the condition census, tied at #9 with an NGC AU50 that sold at Long Beach in 2016. (I settled for a PCGS VF25 CAC for my own set.)
Here is the oldest one. Athens tetradrachm circa 440 to 404 BC
If it needs to be an American coin, it would be an Oak Tree shilling from the 1660s.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
