Did you miss me? Our hosts had me banned for something extremely petty in my opinion, but does show just how easy it is to misinterpret someone’s post and just how divisive and silly we have all become via social media. I’m in my 50s and been a collector for 40 years. I’ve tried to share my knowledge and learn from others and maybe have a little fun along the way.
So this is probably my last post - and I wanted it to be a giveaway. Everyone knows I’m a peace dollar fan - post your nicest peace dollar and why you think so - and the winner will get a Dan Carr peace dollar replica worth ~150… I’m going out with a bang! I’ll pick a winner on Sunday based on the most likes! Anyone to share another site to share coin info would be appreciated.
Thanks for all the good people I’ve met on here, numerous positive transactions, and for all the good information! Love you all! No sour grapes here - just moving on!
Post your pics of your best peace dollar and win an incredible prize!

VF35 and the color is unreal on this one
@1madman - that is SWEET!
I’m a blast white guy myself but it’s really rare to find natural toning like that on peace dollars - so well done. Good luck and hope you get many likes…!!
If this one could talk! Presumably it was in the pocket of an American soldier in Germany at the end of WWII and he borrowed a punch at the Walther firearms factory.
Sorry to hear about your incarceration. I didn't see anything obvious going on that led up to it.
My one and only. It was given to me by RWB and that's what makes it special to me. It's a variety so that makes it even cooler.

I like this coin because of its history.
The coin is not mine but the history is family.
I was asked by a close family friend about this coin and its value.
I posted it on the forum to get a grade and approximate value.
Many members responded the varying grades and worth. They also recommended an acetone dip which
I did do. Consensus said it was an MS61 with a value of 30-50 dollars.
The history part is that a grandmother passed it down to her daughter, who passed it onto her son, who will pass it onto a grandchild.
On a side note, I am sorry to see you go. I always eagerly read your posts.
Drop a line (thru a friend lol) to know where you have landed.

I do hope you stick around yet if you choose not too, here's my entry:

This is the only peace dollar that I have bought over the last few years, but it is a nice one. 1928 is the lowest regularly minted issue and is considered one of the keys to the set. I think it may be the nicest I own! It has a beautiful white color and a smooth cheek! Probably only a spot and a tic away from gem. CAC approved!
I'd rather have you stick around. I must have missed whatever happened.

This truly is one of a kind. I love it!

Well. . . not quite a one of a kind...
Here is its twin:

Ha. Paternal if not identical twins!! I love it! Thanks for posting. I think
you should win the prize offered!!!
a. Peace Dollars in general have so many “hits” due to the soft surfaces and how they were handled via Mint bags, but this one is a “lucky duck”. Even those that escape true hits to the silver, typically still have a lot of slight surface marks on the cheek and neck when tilted. This coin avoided the vast majority of those.
b. Perhaps you might find a Peace Dollar that looks almost this good in a date that’s much more common, like 1922, 23, or 25. But 1934 is much less common, so to me, having so few “distractions” makes her even more special.
c. Eye appeal is subjective. I fall into the large but silent minority (like @ricko) that prefers my 20th Century silver Blast White AND super lustrous. Anthony de Francisci would love this coin, as this is exactly as he envisioned it would look, but here we are 88 years after this beauty was “born”, and she hasn’t aged a bit, lol. Yes, she’s probably taken a bath (in some dip), but apparently gently enough that even CAC recognized she merited their sticker!
d. Many Peace dollars get that yellowish tone (which many collectors like). Many others without toning have a creamy white surface, which I also like, as do many other collectors. But this sweet lady has tremendous cartwheel luster in hand that is so very difficult to capture in a 2 dimensional photo. The True View, due to limited time, does not come close. The brilliant YN, @FlyingAl took the other photos, and came very close.
e. She has a Pedigree of Ron Bauer. I tried to research who he was, but all I could find was a famous coin magician with that name. Maybe it was him who owned this coin, maybe not. But it seems like magic that this coin could can look as good as it does!

No entry. Just sharing your frustration with the randomness of the hammer.
I appreciate you trying to shed light on this issue. Happy to see you are one of the few here who realize this forum is just one of many options available for us to spend our precious time and energy during each day we have available to us.
Enjoy your freedom and your right to leave for greener pastures!😎
You are quitting because you got jailed? Really now. I've been in jail half a dozen times, no big deal. I would not leave over such a silly reason.![:) :)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)

Let it go, let it go, let it go.
"S" has a way of coming up, but it goes away again. Stay on the positive and let it go I say again.
I will say that I have gotten into some discussions with some individuals, trying to stay cordial as they have gone personal and managed to stay for whatever reason. Have to be a bit oblique but there you go....

Well, just Love coins, period.
This is the only one I have at the moment. For what ever reason, everytime I see this coin I think of my grandpa who was born in 1900 and was 21 years old when this coin was minted. What life must have been like, rough I'm sure, growing up on the family farm in Nebraska; cold Winters and hot Summers.
Almost the beginning of the roaring '20's. Still looks pretty good for being 102 years young.
It's not holdered and won't be.
Hopefully, you'll change your mind about going or decide to just take a break.

Some truly incredible coins on this thread - I’m so thrilled!
And yes, the one with the most likes by Sunday 5pm EST will be the winner!!
On another note, and not to get too sappy, but I SO much appreciated all the well-wishes and calls for me to reconsider my plans to leave the forum. I didn’t realize there were so many collectors who appreciated some of my posts. The feeling is totally mutual - I have really enjoyed the knowledge and sharing that fellow collectors have provided on this forum! So again, it was not about being sour grapes but simply the annoyance of being banned for something that was just SO silly … I’ve always been of the opinion that if something happens that causes you not to enjoy the experience of what you are participating in, then it’s best just move on. I think sometimes the best way we can be influential to the actions of others is to make a stand and not accept the terms imposed. So there you have it / I’m not trying to be a rebel or some kind of activist, but at the same time I value my time and life is too short to deal with unnecessary annoyance!! If I wanted that I’d have a Facebook account…!! 😝
Love you guys - good luck to the winner - keep those posts coming!
Most likes by 5pm eastern time will win the prize - amazing Dan Carr 1917 hard times token - 2 oz silver (and a story with that related to this forum which I will share when the winner is announced).
And to (the real) Dan Carr - I appreciated your post above and I have several of your coins and I’m a HUGE fan! That’s why this giveaway is so special … I happen to believe that someday in the (perhaps not-so-distant) future your coins will become even more collectible than they are today - and you’ll go down as a sort of pioneer in numismatic history! Maybe someday I’ll have the pleasure to meet you - that would make my day!!
Good luck everyone - I’ll be back on Sunday at 5pm Eastern and we will all see the winner. I won’t pick the winner, YOU will - most likes wins - period!!
Happy Friday and good luck from Mr Grapes in North Carolina! ☺️
Keep ‘em coming!
Love the pics!
