MS65BN with Photo Seal from Rick Snow.

The colors in hand are amazing on this coin. The luster glows with iridescence. Gather a quess on grade if you wish.

  • My first thought was MS66BN, until I read @LanceNewmanOCC post that said that grade is a Pop Top.
    So I will say MS65+BN.

That's a perfect brown cent. Sometimes they're more stunning than a mint red cent. I think 65 BN.

I don't think I've ever seen a GTG with a spread this close - everything is between 64 and 66.

To me it looks clean as a 66. No rub and not enough dings as would be appropriate for a 65. But pics can be deceiving, and I do not discount you posted pics that might be deceiving....... You should reholder with a TureView which may display the colors you describe.

Looks like an 1886 variety one to me, only three graded 66 brn by PCGS in that grade, and there's a very slim chance that it's a 66 brn variety two...not one graded by PCGS!
So IMHO it has to be a variety one less than a 66 .....I will stick with my original guess of 64+ brn.

Gonna go with 66 RB, I think those reds pop more under a light.

Edit: That is without doing research into the pop reports. Beautiful coin nonetheless, thanks for sharing.

I would grade it as 64rb, but I'll guess it is in a 65+bn holder.

After seeing the second set of pictures, my grade is now MS66 BN

  • kirkminkkirkmink Posts: 176 ✭✭✭✭

Hard to tell if that is just shine from the light or the high points have a touch of rub.

I do see a tic on the cheek and eye-brow now, and some on the neck. I would revise my guess to 65BN, but I still think it looks more RB. The fields are very clear. If that is high-point rub though, then this will be an AU-58. Hard to tell without having it in hand to rotate in the light.

Does the first one that said 65BN win the coin?

I like the true view image, its a nice coin.

I find interesting that I guess a point high and Jimnight guessed right on the money. But a member, @bearcave, that didn't even make a guess to this thread found these two guesses funny for some reason. I wonder how many points or color designators off @bearcave was thinking it should have been...
