I'm in Carson City, post a CC coin..., Updated..Finally went to NNC...Newp Inside

Update at the bottom of the thread...
Spending an unexpected few days in Carson City. Staying just a few blocks from the Mint. Post a CC coin just for the heck of it.
I think my chances of not going to visit NNC across the street from the mint is about 0% LOL

1883 was the year the original Dutton’s settled in Montana and this coin is the exact coin that Mr Dutton’s wife tipped the store owner after letting her get drunk on their back porch when they stopped at the trading post somewheres in Oklahoma territory.
I don’t have any real proof of this but who cares about those pesky facts I think the story will be true if I just keep repeating it over and over! That’s how the politicians do it…!!
8000 and it’s yours (cheap)
Why let facts get in the way of a good story…
When you see the guys minting coins tell them bob in vegas says hi!
I have one but can't seem to find a pic.

Oh, how I wish I could. Maybe someday.

Surprised that doesn’t have a cac gold sticker on it. Looks better than some ms63s I’ve seen. Wow

@1madman, thanks for the compliment. I won it at an auction raw, in the late 80’s, and had it slabbed shortly afterwards. It was described as an EF-40, but was actually a much higher grade. I thought at the time it was a low grade unc. Oh well
This one is nearby.... Cheers, RickO

Hey @ricko , it looks like your coin is tarnished? I guess it's still in your collection since you never sell?
While we're communicating, and I'm a "Sticker Guy", can you peek at my 20 Cent piece about a dozen replies up, and let me know if it merits the coveted Ricko Blast White Sticker? I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Thanks, and have a nice weekend.

@winesteven .... Hi Steve, Looking back at the coin, and enlarging it, it does merit the BW sticker. Cheers, RickO

Wow! Thanks!!!!!!

Some of these 1889 cc examples are spectacular! I’ll likely never own one of those, unfortunately…
This cc of mine is one of the few Carson City coins that was included in the Saddle Ridge Hoard. I acquired it directly from my Northwestern classmate Don Kagin who acquired it in turn from the mysterious finders of the Saddle Ridge Hoard:
Now called WB-11 and is an R4.
Here's a WB-10 (R4) PCGS EF45 (from ARCO). This is one of the eight DMs comprising the former WB-103
Don’t say “never” here. Except to say, one never knows….

At least you prefaced it with “likely”.
I never thought I’d live to a ripe old age of 30, certainly not 50, and now look, I’m closer to 70!
Life is full of surprises!
Here’s another one.

Dang, this is turning out to be one heck of a thread. Started off raining here in CC today but has transitioned to snow as the temp dropped just about an hour ago.
Pretty cool --- literally.
There is always Lake Tahoe and Virginia City as day trips if the time allows.
Every numismatic fan or history buff should visit the Carson City/Virginia City landmarks.
There is a ton of great 19th century architecture and history on the Kit Carson Walking Trail:
Here is one from my CC collection I sold recently:

Only one I got - old ANACs holder with UDM designation:

She's a little banged up but a pretty cool GSA.

Collector, occasional seller
A trio of CC quarters
One of those where is she now coins?
It's funny how the hunt works, I'd been looking for an appealing but very circulated CC $20 for awhile, finally found this one raw, carried it around in my pocket for awhile, got it graded and then somewhat promptly sold it away...
It was a favorite while I had her!
Never say never
I was "never" going to buy the plastic, hence my Morgans were raw inside Danscos that had started off as a lowball set and now it has become a mix of grades ranging from AG 3 to MS 64. I have recently started trying to upgrade even though progress is like molasses in January.
Currently working on geting all of the GSA issues first.
