Friday Night Eye Candy- Reuniting 2 Old Friends

I purchased this 1899 Simpson Morgan in the Heritage sale last year, I’ve posted it before, incredible blue with intense mirrors

On the other forum Laura stated it came from the most incredible proof set she ever saw, and she was sad it got broken up, but that the half was coming up at GC
So I went in GC and it had no bids
Here are the GC photos

So with a single bid at the end of the auction I was able to reunite two old friends

I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I am blown away by this half- it is incredibly toned and has deep deep watery mirrors- it’s literally the most beautiful Barber Half that I have ever seen. I’m thrilled to be able to put these two coins back together, where they will remain for the foreseeable future. The Barber also deserves a 68+ in my opinion. Now if I can only find the rest of the set!

In case it helps for more reunions, cert numbers that start with 066 appear on the original Simpson coins, slabbed in 2010.

@FloridaFaceLifter You might check out the following cert #s to complete the 1899 proof set:

    25c 81459904 PR68CAM
10c 85165774 PR68 currently in Stewert Blay Registry so may be available
    5c 40553660 PR68
    1c several in Coin Facts

Good Luck with this if you can locate any of the above coins. Most of the above coins were sold by Legend and are from Bruce Sher collection.

Both coins are truly wonderful. It would be great if you could re-assemble the Proof set, although the coins in the original set might not all be as good as these pieces.

I would love to have them in my collection, but you have set goals and priorities. I have gone more in a historical direction although eye appeal does mean a lot to me. Both of those coins are great.
