Sparky64's 2023 Winter FUN show report

sparky64sparky64 Posts: 7,041 ✭✭✭✭✭

Left chilly Northeast PA Wednesday afternoon and arrived at the Rosen in the evening with no issues.
This is the first time I've been able to attend on Thursday and glad i did.
Rather than a day by day report, I'll just hit the highlights and observations.

  • Dropped off a few coins at PCGS for grading.
  • Was able to briefly chat with members @BillJones , @amwldcoin and @winesteven.
I learn so much in these brief exchanges. I am not a social person and need to push myself in these situations and am glad i did.

  • Got to finally meet and say hello to @lordmarcovan. Look forward to a little more conversation next time. It was really great to see him on the bourse.

  • Also met Tom Uram from my home state and president of PAN. In addition to representing PAN, he also had the outstanding 2 cent exhibit.
  • As has been reported by others, the many young men and women there was very noticable and a welcome site.
  • The exhibits by members Steve & Bill Jones were just so well done that I lost track of time looking at them.
  • I wanted to make a serious push towards finishing my 32-64 silver Washington quarter set. One of my bigger purchases was this nice 1936-D MS64 from Elizabeth Coggan.

  • I found all material to be plentiful and prices seemed strong without much wiggle room.

  • Not to mention the daily poolside adult beverages, over-the-top dinners and just appreciating where I was.
  • All in all it was a fantastic time.
  • Left the fun and sun Sunday, back to chilly Northeast PA.

Oh- I saw @amwldcoin too, and almost bought a Barber dime from him, but by the time I got to his table, I was pretty tapped out and my checkbook was smoldering.

PS- that’s a gorgeous early Washington! The ‘30s dates really appeal to me.

Great report and I really enjoyed reading it. Glad you had a good time. And that 1936-D looks great and is definitely an underrated key to the Washington series.

My only regret was not attending the Bass auction.
Dropped the ball on that one.
