The hunt for affordable record lots continues and this one I'm beyond pleased. Auction listing (as most buy-it-nows are beyond all reasoning) and listed as G to VG which should be in rather rough shape using the standards of those grades and stated to have some wear but all playable. Looked at some of the sellers individual record listings where he used the same grade but showed images of the actual records and decided worth a gamble.
After taking the pics I started going through them. Visually the blanket grade I guess makes sense. There was a good amount of dust/dirt on most of them but after cleaning it's about a 50/50 mix of strong VG with minimal noise (think pops/clicks/crackle mostly in quiet sections with visual light scuffs/scratches) to VG+ with occasional pop/click here and there.
Visually this is the lowest in VG condition.
The ones I describe as STRONG VG look like this.
And VG+.
And here is all the boring bits of going into details about each condition/pressings and my thoughts.
Al Wilson – La La Peace Song (STRONG VG Needs proper cleaning. Light crackle and pops/clicks here and there)
Donna Summer – Mac Arthur Park Suite 12" (STRONG VG. Light crackle in quiet sections. Should bump a grade with proper cleaning)
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes Featuring Theodore Pendergrass – To Be True (VG Needs proper cleaning. Crackly)
Nancy Wilson – From Broadway With Love (STRONG VG. Light scuffs/scratches. Light crackle here and there with occasional pop/click. Should bump a grade with proper cleaning)

Also picked up this DVD set from Amazon Warehouse for the outrageously expensive total of $2.13. Described as Condition: Used - Very Good Missing shrink-wrap, activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Item may come repackaged.
It is in original packaging. One disc had come loose in shipping and had a scuff that cleaned off. Otherwise all discs appear brand new.
Edited to add
Forgot to add this. The Al Wilson is another weird one where it appears to have marbled/slightly marbled appearance. Visible under bright light with a brown/black color. Pops under the blacklight.
I've been working on a 1971 Topps PSA 7/8 set ( mostly 7's ) but when PaulMaul offered me a deal
on a bunch of PSA 8's I just couldn't pass this beauty up.

That's cool. I've been chasing that Simmons card for a while, and trying to find one at a 7-9 but they're TOUGH.
Anyone else have winning bids in the Heritage Auction on 11/17 . SGC-graded cards seem to be receiving more respect. Here is mine...very happy to add it to my collection.
Also...this lot just ended and I won this Mantle combo card from 1964. I had this card as a kid growing up...my first year buying baseball cards at the age of 8...back in the Summer of 1964.
Paid $55 for this Rickey rookie, but I may as well have stolen it. My untrained grading eye sees some very minor edge wear and small touches to the front upper left corner, and back lower right. Incredible centering front and back. I do see a dot on the back bottom right, could be a print mark? What looks like a crease on the back bottom right isn’t actually there but for whatever reason it is in the picture.

I hope you are right and it gets a great grade but have you checked it closely with other similar cards? The corners concern me and I worry it might not meet min size requirement. It might have been trimmed.

Yes, it is the sane size as other 1980 Topps. I appreciate the comment!

Hello everyone - been out of the forum loop quite a bit lately doing the "outdoorzy" stuff but here is a recent rare pickup.
1973/74 Topps Basketball Rack with Wilt on top and Phil Jackson on back
hey UFFDAH,
Nice rack...
Picked up the final piece for my 1954 Bowman Cubs team set. Not a memorable team (they lost 90 games that year) but I've always liked the '54 design.
That's cool. I've been chasing that Simmons card for a while, and trying to find one at a 7-9 but they're TOUGH.
I had that Chamberlain card as a kid. When you look at it casually, it appears Wilt is being given a wedgie by the invisible man.
Added a Hank Aaron.

Managed to reel in this centered 1979 Yaz.

I have always loved that card. Nice pickup!

Thanks.

Just came back today....MBA
I would love to add a Musial rookie. What a nice card.
Otto Graham pre-rookie exhibits postcard.
I've been looking for this guy forever. Just 7 left in the HOF Rookies set...
hey Copyboy1,
Cool one...
hey Browns1981,
Yep...that's pretty cool...
hey ScoobyDoo2,
could you help me out with that gold sticker on there...Thanks...
A Diamond Star for the Cubs PC...
Nice pickup, beautiful card. Love the artwork on the early 50's Bowmans. Great name for a football player!
hey Chicago1976,
Nice one...
Some tough 1/1's for my "first card" collecting focus:
Those are ‘Mike Baker’ stickers. Mr. Baker has served as head grader at a few different firms if I recall and his opinion is pretty well respected.
While I don’t specifically know what it intimates, most stickers tend to suggest the card is at the higher end of the assigned grade.

Found an extremely faint wrinkle under magnification, otherwise looks sharp. Underrated HOF IMO. Cousy gets all the credit in that backcourt.
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
Very nice! Looks like some tough ones for a basic set. I am building the Griffey basic, so I can appreciate the journey!

Picked up another Bench RC which makes the 3rd one in the last few months. Trying to find nicely centered ones for the PC along with Ryan RC.
I should have but did not. It's a little old for me. I prefer the Bird version to DJ.

Henderson certainly does NOT look trimmed.
I think the Celtics radio broadcasts featured Most's call for at least thirty years.
Added this 75 Aaron.
