These 1953 Bowman Color cards are so difficult to find well centered. It was a great idea by the trailblazing bubble gum company, Bowman, to issue a card without lettering, team logos, facsimile autographs or distracting design...and just let the beauty of color photography take over.

Here is my latest addition and I am happy to add it to my collection. The colors are bright and eye popping, the card is well centered for the issue which is so problematic, and the borders are bright white showing little to no toning. The inks do not align perfectly (registration is little off) and corners have minor touches...accounting for the assigned grade. The positives outweigh the negatives in my eye...so I pulled the trigger.

Love that Snider. When your OCD can’t handle it in an SGC slab IM me and I will put it with your old ‘63 Berra!!

    Nice pickup.

Very happy to finally pick up a 1950 Bowman Otto Graham rookie card. This is pretty low grade especially with the staining, but they don’t come along in my price range very often.

    hey Browns1981,
I'd be proud of that Otto....Cool card.... :)

Thanks! A bit off left to right. Probably won't improve on the 8 I have in my set, but always nice to pick up a really nice item.

Got this 57 George Kell. How do I fix my scan?

You should be able to ‘crop’ that image; basically you zoom in on the image and cut out the background and it works similar to cutting and pasting an image.

    ETA:

I did that with my phone and your image…

Next time? Leave the lid open and turn off all the lights in the room. Makes the white border cards (especially) pop even more!

If he can do that with his phone, imagine what one could do with even rudimentary image software. Five minutes with Paint could do even better.

One of the greatest moments from a dismal final for my hometown team. I've passed on 4 or 5 of these in recent years, none of which had a PSA sticker, so this was an easy buy at the price I got it at.

Thanks for the compliments. At the moment, I plan to keep them raw. I’m building a raw, centered Yaz set. Once I get them all together, I’ll consider sending them off to be graded. I started this project many years ago and abandoned the set, selling a ridiculous 1968 Topps Yaz that I’d kill to have back. So now I’m back at it.

Both cards are very crisp in hand.
