What's the reason for the hats and hairnets? Also the white jackets?

With the amount of money generated by today's product, I imagine a room like this would mimic the topless drug dealer packing rooms from gangster movies. LOL

After a satisfactory rip with the 83s, I decided against opening the 72s…I put them up for grabs in the bst section if any of you are interested in acquiring a few more of these

Picture reminds me of the scene in the original Willie Wonka where the factory workers are ripping chocolate bars looking for the golden ticket

Thanks again for all involved in arranging, negotiating, and fulfilling this conquest with Steve and BBCE. Definitely a kid in a candy store with my box as the years of 1983 are pretty much my high school sweet spot.

    The haul:

    I stocked up on the 76 Hockey, and 83 OPC/Topps BB & FB/Fleer and lastly - some 81 Fleer.

Here are the pulls thus far.....

Joe Charbonneau first pack? Yes please I said back in 1981! Spaceman, Chambliss - both looking odd in foreign uni's.
Larussa, Murphy, Garvey. Best part = both cards with gum stuck on them are Indians and will make nice limited edition gifts to an Indians fan this Christmas

    Ken Dryden sighting.

Rose Super Vet and AS Card was a nice same pack pull.

HoF power in the football packs....Branch, Riggins, Fouts, LT, Riggs and a couple of ATG Patriots in Haynes and Nelson - outstanding! Then in the other pack, got the Walter sticker and the Dan Hampton RC

Three total packs of 83 Fleer were opened with a couple of HoF'ers. The Rice and Ryan were creased out of the pack. Such is life.

Lastly, three packs of 1983 Topps Baseball with no big hits but some nice HoF power with Bench, Yaz, Fergie, Rickey, Cal Ripken + an ET RC!

    Outstanding time!

    Ken Dryden sighting.

Not just a Dryden sighting, but in fact 5 HHOF'ers in the same 10-card pack, including a Trottier Rookie (despite being a multi-player card). One more HOF in the 2nd pack w/ Sittler.

PS, one impressive bit of hockey trivia for one of those non-HHOF players you have there: Jarvis never missed a regular season game in his NHL career

I finally did my unboxing. here's my haul. Limited star power (as expected these days) but the packs all look super fresh and I'm extremely pleased. I really like the two 82' IA packs. Also, one of the 81 packs has Reggie on the back and another has Jenkins which is cool. But, hey....... it's 81 fleer, right?

    hey 1all,
    Awesome... :)

My haul. Unfortunately one of the 1980 Topps cellos arrived with a damaged back wrapper. It was all brown and crusty and upon closer examination, cracked open. So I opened the pack. Again unfortunately, no hits and cards had rough corners from the tight wrapping.

    os

WOW what a Reggie WS card on that '78 Cello!

Only cause I saw Soft Parade Dan's post I decided to rip my last 78 cello from this rip. Pics to follow!

That McCovey is very nice. The Hassler is tough to find highly graded too.

I've found getting nicely centered 78s are about as rare as the White Sox winning the world series.

I was going through my gems from a couple months ago and noticed one of the 81 FB Cellos had the plastic pretty damaged. So I decided to open it:

    Wow!!!!….. well done!!!!

This box break order is the gift that keeps on giving!!!

Watch Uffdah find another 57 Jim Brown in those packs.

    58 --- 👍🤣

UFF, in 57 would you rather have Unitas or Starr? I figure you are probably more of a Starr fan.

    @grote15 & @GroceryRackPack

I’m a nonsport collector who has really never ventured into sports collecting… it was really the efforts of this group that made me want to jump in… and seeing the hall of famers names as I scrolled through the cards was a fabulous reward for the efforts!!!

Without the support of the group, and the BBCE wrapping I would not have participated, so…

    Thanks again!

    hey threeodsix,
Very nice...you did very well on your breaks... :)

    Thanks @GroceryRackPack!!!

I think looking for stars is always a thrill… I am a collector at heart!!

But to see them fall pack fresh after 39 years…it’s indescribe-able!!!

Not too concerned about PSA grades… they’ll always be a treasured part of my collection just because of the on-line group experience!

(And yes, I also landed a 1983 Montana from my previous pack rips….so you won’t hear me complaining)!

    Agreed.

And it should be noted that I opened the Klecko on the day it was announced that he was selected into the NFL hall of fame!!!!

    You’d think that alone would’ve earned it a 10!!!!

Okay...My "Sticking My Toe In The Water" Experience with Football Cards has come full circle!!! I got my PSA order back today and can share the results with the group that set me down this path!!!

Every piece of this experience was a thrill for me...and given that I owned no 1984 or 1985 individual cards (I do have 3 uncut sheets of those though!!!) I was delighted to add these to my thin sports card collection.

Nothing spectacular....but I think they were well within my hopeful expectations!!!

From the 4 Packs of 1983 Topps Football I graded these 2 cards....

And from the 2 1984 Rack Packs, I graded 9 cards, 2 PSA 8's, 1, PSA 8.5, and these six....

Overall pretty nice results....I set my sights much lower than these grades when I submitted them, and I am a TERRIBLE at home grader, so I think my choices were pretty solid given how difficult these cards can be to get in high grade.

I am so glad to have had this experience....and would only encourage anyone to take part in such a well run effort in the future!!!

    Thanks again!!!!

    hey threeofsix ,
That's Awesome there....I too would be very proud of those... :)

I don't know what's more impressive, your grades or the fact that you already have your cards back in hand! What service level did you use?

    Sweet cards by the way.

  • threeofsixthreeofsix Posts: 579 ✭✭✭✭

@brad31 Thanks … I am very pleased (and I truly enjoyed the group experience!!)

    And

@detroitfan2 yes… the cards I chose seem to pan out from the grading end! I submitted them under last months sports card special….hoping for all up charges!!!
