For me - PSA saying a pack is a 7 or a 10 doesn’t really matter - has nothing to do with the state of the cards inside.
Ironically, for wax packs, I think that the PSA 5 pack with the small tears in the side where the loose gum moved around is actually a better pack than the PSA 9 where the gum is glued to the card.

My package was delivered this morning. It was stressful last couple of hours when I saw that someone had "Signed" for it and the package was "Delivered, Left with individual" even though nobody was home. I had USPS to send me a picture of the signature and it was definitely a forgery. Asked the wife to swing by home to see if anything was there and, luckily, the package was left between the screen door and my front door. What a relief.
I'm assuming the mailman signed for it himself and left it. I have no relationship with him so I'm very surprised he did this. Has anyone else ever had this happen? My bill for this break came to $1500 so to say I was worried was an understatement.

You should contact the USPS and report your delivery driver. Might be cool to get a package instead of having to pick it up, but considering you had heartache for a few hours it just isn't worth the risk they are choosing to take for you.

If they deal with it properly, it is fraud and the driver may no longer be employed...(maximum penalty is 10 years in prison)
It appears they forge signatures so they don't have to take packages back to their truck and also won't have to unload them at the end of the day.
You are absolutely correct that the post office wouldn't like being called out on this though, but they seem to be working more for Amazon than Americans nowadays anyway...
Here are my packs. I'll probably open a few of the cheaper ones when I have time. I got a Dan Marino showing on the back of the 1984 rack pack...unfortunately it's just the passing leader card. But there is an OC Tony Dorsett showing on the front.

I have some concerns about the 1982 baseball cello pack. I only reserved one pack so I'd be interested in what others think who received those packs.
Mine was super clean and tight as a drum. Correctly collated, too.

I'm glad to hear that Tim. Since this wasn't a FASC box, it could be a bad pack that snuck into the box? Here are the pictures and my concerns.
It could be staining but it sure looks like heat marks on the cello
There's some scrunching of the plastic in the back flaps.
Fold lines around the corners don't look terrible but they aren't as clean as other 82 cellos I have
Pack is tight as a snare drum...like 1978 cellos. 1982s aren't normally that tight. They normally have some slack along the sides.
Corners are bent including at least one I can see that is frayed in both directions

Pack is authentic just stained. I dont see any signs of tampering there and the staining is not in the area where you'd find such discoloration if that were the case.
Also, like 1980 and 1981, there are two variations for 1982 cellos~one very loosely wrapped, one very tightly wrapped. The variation should be consistent throughout the box and both your and my packs are of the tightly wrapped variation.

Thanks for the feedback Tim. I never recall seeing tightly wrapped '82 packs but then I haven't purchased very many of them since the year they were issued. I guess I just got a really ugly pack.
What would cause the staining on gemint's pack? Legit or not, I just don't see how a seller passes that off on someone in that condition. I know I would be very disappointed if I were gemint, Tom Brookens back or not.

Well that only means one thing then..........
Except unfortunately all the corners look bent too. Maybe I'll open it to put it out of its misery or I'll leave it as a damaged relic of days gone by.

Could be any number of reasons over the past 4 decades.

That is the one drawback you encounter when opening 70s cellos or other tightly wrapped cellos from this era. However, it's usually only the first couple cards on either side that exhibit that damage due to the tight wrap. The majority of cards towards the middle of the pack are likely fine.

Nope, not in this pack. Looking at the corners through a loupe, I can see most are bent, even the cards in the center of the pack. No biggie. It wasn't a $100 pack.
I am a long time non-sport collector, and don’t really know sport collecting. I was intrigued as to how a group effort like this would go, and jumped in just for the experience.
The truth is for me, opening packs of old football cards and seeing a fresh pack Walter Payton, a new Steve Grogan (the team I rooted for as a kid), an Archie Manning (who knew there was a 3rd Manning…lol), along with a Jack Lambert!!!
Getting a nice looking Joe Montana was a bonus!!!
The experience was a real thrill!!!
I asked a lot of questions as to why people would do this sort of thing…. and I still welcome any comments as I learn more about sports collecting…but the comments I got so far really explained this as a group effort that we could all benefit from.
So I was really happy to share my experience here. (So far!!)
My pleasure! Love to see these posts, guys, and look forward to doing this again next year, too!

Has been happening for my wife and myself since COVID19 reared its ugly head.
My psoriasis med is $2500 every 3 months. FedEx just leaves it on the porch.
PSA shipments $5000 and up left on the porch. Coins from Europe $4000 and
up left on the porch. Haven't signed for any of these since COVID19. Mailman
and 3 different FedEx drivers all told me they were instructed not to get in person
sigs. They sign for it themselves, leave the package and off they go.

Just couldn't resist, so went ahead and opened the 2 '83 OPC packs...

Two

like your racks...

Watch Uffdah find another 57 Jim Brown in those packs.
58 --- 👍🤣
Once again, this would violate his contract with PSA.
Ripped the 2 '83 Topps during WS no-hitter... got a no-hitter myself!
Pack one
Pack two
Next time I'll buy more! Holding the 2 1980 super cellos for now. Not sure how long that will last. lol
