I think I prefer the top one. For the record it failed CAC, the bottom one has not been tried.

First one for sure! Dont like the spot on the neck on #2 obverse
Both great coins
Spots bug me so I would go with 1.
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
The reverse on the 1st one stands out to me and pushes it over the top (I also think the spots on coin 2 make it less favorable compared to 1).
Number 1 for me.
The top coin has a better strike on the rev and no spots. I like coin 1 better.

I much prefer the reverse of the top one, it has a better strike, tone and overall look than the second one's reverse, however...
I think the obverse of the second coin is a slightly stronger strike, and I like the coloring on it whereas the top one is a little more muted on the obverse...
If I was forced to choose, I'd probably go with the top one, but I would be very proud to own either one!!

The first one does it for me as well
Glad we are almost all in agreement

The first one, it has a better strike.
1 is a better strike on both obverse and reverse, and it has better luster on the reverse. For me, those outweigh the tiny tick in the hair above the braid.
Hard to believe the top coin wouldn't sticker at 65.
Sorry for the large font.
I prefer the top one.

Top for me, I think the PL like fields on the reverse are very attractive.

Top one,,,,,, the spots are a stopper for me on the bottom coin.
Both are nice. I like #1 more.
Number one for me... seems a better strike and still some luster on reverse. Cheers, RickO
Top one
Yup #1 no spots that can get bigger in time. Both nice coins.
Hoard the keys.
I really like both coins... 1 has the edge without seeing them in hand

Just because a coin doesn't get a bean doesn't mean it's not a nice coin for the grade. I sincerely believe CAC has changed their criteria in the last three years re what gets a bean and what doesn't. Secondly, CAC agrees to make a bid on any coin in which it beans This may or may not influence their decision on what gets a bean or not.

1 is clearly superior however the obverse is a little dark for my taste.
They are both so nice I'd be proud to have either in my collection.
Ok. I'll be the step child, send me #2.
