Completed my Everyman Liberty Seated Dime collection
I just finished the Everyman Liberty Seated Dime set. It is kind of a relief to be done. In a way this set has been in progress for 35 years as I started it in the 1980's as a kid with a Dansco album, but then took about 20 years off in the middle. It is an extension of my Liberty Seated Dime Complete Variety set, with a number of new coins that had to be downgraded to meet the Everyman criteria.
It is not a popular set evidently, as this is the first and only 100% complete set (by far). Completing any Liberty Seated set is difficult as many of the coins have been cleaned or damaged; Liberty Seated coinage seems to have been a real workhorse of the economy and they did their intended jobs. A few dates are truly rare in circulated but gradeable condition which contributes to the challenge of the set.
You can view the set in the PCGS Registry here or the digital album of the set here.
Thanks for looking!

That is awesome and way to go! As a fellow liberty seated collector, I know painfully well how difficult it is to complete any set in this series. Your dimes look great and the fact that it spanned 35 years from beginning to completion just makes it all the better and a more fulfilling accomplishment!
You have assembled a very, very nice set of Seated Dimes! When I was a dealer specializing in Bust and Seated silver coins, I had many clients making this quest, but few were as successful as you have been! Congratulations!

That is actually really cool!
@savitale - I know how tough it is to find nice PQ seated coinage. I am very impressed, not only that you completed the set but more so in the quality of your coins. You took you time and it shows. I don’t collect dimes so I have a couple questions. Which dates where the biggest sleepers? Which coins are your favorites? What are your plans for this set now that you have completed it? Do you plan to upgrade the set or leave as is? What’s next?
That’s a great set of Seated Liberty dimes!

Congrats on finishing out the set. They look nice.
Congrats on a great set. And what an accomplishment to find all of those. The 1867 looks PL in the photos.
You've done an amazing job putting together a nice range of grades and opting for a lower grade; but, nice looking coin for the more expensive ones. I especially liked the digital album presentation showing the grade of each coin.
Given the number of years it took you to put together this set, I don't have enough years left to start one.
Very nice. Congrats on completing the set.
WOW! Great accomplishment!! It takes many years to complete such a set, which is why you don't have much (if any) competition. I have a near complete date and mm set, but not registry set quality, and my set is raw in an album.
That’s QUITE the accomplishment! All varying grades, yet well matched and VERY original! Awesome! 👍

That's great, a wonderful set! You obviously have both patience and perseverance!
I love the quality and eye appeal of your set!!
Each coin beautiful but unique in it's own way!!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Steven, my gosh what a beautiful, well matched set of our lady Liberty's Seated Dimes. Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for sharing and congratulations on a task only a few complete.

That's a lot of questions so I'll parse it out.
Which dates where the biggest sleepers?
Good question. The 1867, 1870-S, and 1885-S are sleepers in the sense that they are legitimately rare coins but they are highly undervalued compared to what they would cost in other series. 1863 and 1865 are scarce. The coins that were surprisingly difficult to find decent examples of, but are priced with the common dates, are 1859, 1870, and 1875-S Above Bow.
Which coins are your favorites?
For eye-appeal: 1837 No Stars, 1838 No Drapery, 1850, 1859, 1870-S, 1878, 1879-S
Because they are hard-to-get: 1863, 1865, 1867, 1870-S, 1885-S
The "big" coin that once bought meant there was no turning back: 1871-CC
What are your plans for this set now that you have completed it? Do you plan to upgrade the set or leave as is? What’s next?
Honestly, I plan to sell it. The fun for me is the pursuit of the goal as opposed to holding onto the coins for a long time. And I need the money tied up in this set in order to move on to the next adventure. I'm thinking Bust Dimes, Bust Quarters, or maybe a Type Set.

@savitale - Thanks for the detailed reply. After 35 years and finally completing a set of this magnitude. I don’t know that I’d be able to part with it. But the market is hot now so it may not be a bad idea if your not emotionally tied to them. If you do plan to sell please send them all to CAC. Love them or hate them your coins appear to be PQ and if they earn stickers they will become more liquid and command more money. Good luck!
A wonderful set of dimes. Well done!! After a lot of years, I am still looking for 13 of them.
It is nice to complete a set and especially one that large (in quantity, not size
).
Let's hope it is a little more popular than you think as you indicated time to sell and pursue other goals. Good luck.
Your completion and then sell reminded me of Foo Fighters (All my life):

@savitale.... Now that is a great and fantastic collection. What a huge project. Congratulations on your dedication and achievement. Cheers, RickO
Hi Steve,
So many difficult coins and all that I have seen are choice, even the super tough cc's. A beautiful set!
I had put the set together myself, also over 30 years, but did not get them all slabbed.
Best,
Ken
Absolutely fantastic.
My humble Roosie album is proving to be hard (for me) to complete.
Your dedication to putting together a very nicely balanced set is inspiring. I really appreciate how well things just “belong “ with each other. Hard to believe the entire set compliments so well
Congratulations 😉🦫🙀
🎶 shout shout, let it all out 🎶
That's an awesome set, congrats on completing it! I'm working on the Seated halves myself, but unlike you I don't see myself ever completing that set (currently #9 in the basic set registry). However I will keep going until I hit the money wall that I can't jump over.
Like you mentioned for the dimes, the halves are very difficult to find in attractive original condition. The later Civil War dates and the 1850 thru 1852 stretch were a bear to find too.

What a great set of premium coins. A labor of love for sure.
Like Crusty said, after all that time I think it would be tough to sell them, but alas ... congratulations on a wonderful accomplishment and good luck with the next pursuit!
