Just curious if anyone else has a couple of these put back. Really cool, budget friendly way to get your coins certified back in the day. Slant 6, curved 6, gold holders, etc.., came a little later, but are you still holding some PCI stuff? Show them if you gottem!

My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I have nearly a full set of MS Franklin's in these PCI holders...
I sneak and buy them when I get put on a budget... love them
These old PCI grades were all over the place. When I was dealer, a collector brought a group Morgan Dollars housed in them for a show and tell to a show. The real grades ranged from a point or two over graded to a couple of pieces that were two points under graded on the Sheldon MS scale.
So far as "cheap grading" goes, those days are in the rear view mirror for many services. I just got the word that a piece of Confederate paper money I submitted for grading will take 53 business days. That's more than 10 weeks, and the "economy rate" was not cheap.
I usually hoard them.

I think I have a couple somewhere. These holders polish up nice if they're scuffed. I gave someone's 61-O CSA Obverse half in a Hallmark holder the PlastX treatment at the ANA show and it looks fantastic.

Please do remember that there are many varieties of the "green" holder.
1991-2000 Green border s/n 10, 2 codes
1999-2001 Green border s/n 14, 1 codes
2001-2002 Green border (Shade ownership) s/n 9, 1 codes
2010 Green replicas, bad microprinting, break top right of box
There are also outright forgeries from the Delluniversita ownership from November 2010 to December 2011. Although only about 20 coins were graded for others during that period. The rest, sold to consumers through PCA Collectibles, Inc. of North Lindenhurst, New York, have now been sold to unsuspecting owners and likely resold many times.
Google for Albert Malvino v. PCA Collectibles, Inc., Civil Action No. 2:12-CV-401, in the U.S. District Court of Southern District of Texas Corpus Christi Division.
Conder101 says that there are 10-digit green border PCI slabs made after DGS, "... the 10 digit ones made by the people that bought out the company from Dominion Grading Service. (The latter companies 10 digit slabs replicated the correct lettering font as the early ones but used the wrong font on the numbers.)"
Notice the 6 on the 1920 and 1902 coins in @coinbuf 's pics...

Very informative!

@Billjones the 1991-2000 PCI were pretty good to meh - the technical grading of the early coins of that era doesn't always translate to today's market grading.
Things certainly circled the porcelain goddess after that.

Just picked up at the LCS.. wish my phone could capture the real beauty of the colors on this penny.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for first loving us.
@0ronron your slab appears to be a PCI Gen. 2.0. These were generally considered accurately graded, although I don't think yours would still be considered red.
However, I do like the color.
As @BStrauss3 said one has to be careful when dealing with PCI green label holders because there are several versions, with some better than others. There are several tells including the font (specifically the 6 and lower case a), the cert. number, and the numbers below the barcode on the back of the slab if one knows what to look for. oldslabholders.com has a nice overview of PCI slab generations along with other TPG's. It's worth checking out for anyone interested in old slabs.

I'd think that most of the money grade coins were cracked out if they would cross. I have a few PCI coins, two in their red problem coin holders.
