Is there some way to post pictures here in the JPEG or jpg format? I keep a file of counterfeits for educational purposes. These pictures are under "webp" which I can't download. I did got back to the eBay source an copy it.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

there is a way. despite me fighting with firefox (chrome still does the jpg thing) i do see that certain members (including me sometimes oddly enough) when uploading images, does permit it to be d/l in the jpg format which is VERY quick for drag n drop. you CAN disable the webp option in FF but it will have effects on other sites, ie youtube thumbnails no longer show in FF with webp disabled.

if you don't want/can't use chrome or another browser that permits the drag n drop or right click save as jpg, then you can drag the images into paint or whatever and save to jpg. OR if you are patient and tech inclined, you can go ahead and d/l all the images you want and when you get a ton, you can use bulk-editor programs to convert en-masse webp to whatever format you like.

tbh, if i had thought of what i suggested with bulk editing, i would have been saving them en masse much sooner.

I don't know what the webp is but when I copy the pictures they are jpg. Then when I paste them to the forum the system converts them to png.
I did a screen shot (lower resolution) and then pasted that and it came through as a jpeg below. I have never paid attention to this as long as it pasted.

This is the first one that converts to png

These show as jpeg after loading on forum

    Gone.

I notified eBay of both of these and they did absolutely nothing. These are from a seller who has been mixing in fakes with legit coins for YEARS. If you go back into his feedback you’ll find negs stating that coins were counterfeit. How the hell is this guy getting away with this?! I have reported him MANY times and nothing is ever done. Click on the link beneath the pics to see what they went for. Disgusting 😡🤬😠

Yep... all links are gone.. including the OP..... So, glad they were pulled, but if this guy posts so many counterfeits, he should be pulled as well. Cheers, RickO

@ricko ...agreed, but they come back under a different seller name... sort of like playing ebay whack-a-mole.

Edited to add... I wonder if ebay can block an IP address so at least it would make it harder for the same individual to create multiple accounts from the same computer...

You can get around that in various ways too, for example using a VPN. But there are other ways to hide your true origin.

Then there are counter-countermeasures where eBay could do a bunch of analysis (they won't) to say that this new sign up is 80% probably the same person we just banned. But they won't take the 20% chance of denying a legitimate new seller.

Maybe you should go to work at eBay; all most of us can do is report them as we see them...

I did go look at job postings, and https://jobs.ebayinc.com/job/salt-lake-city/snr-manager-emerging-seller-risk-policy/403/31928821040 gives me some hope that they are investing some effort.

I'm pretty much off the market though, so that's not going to be me.

It occurs to me that we have no way of knowing how many similar situations they do proactively identify and deal with. But you do end up being the last line of defense for the ones that get through.

I click save image as and change it to .jpg before I save it. No problem
