Collectors ID

I just received an email from PCGs referring me to Collectors ID, a single password system for PCGS, among others. Not sure what it is, but is it legit? I ask because of all the phishing emails being sent around these days. Also, I'm old fashioned. Do I need this? and what does it offer a simple coin guy.

I have not checked email but earlier this week when I logged onto pcgs I had to do an extra step of Name and then got the notice that my logon was good for all CU (4 if I recall correctly).

Edit:
Just checked email and no email. So probably what it is as I had already changed mine.
Note: this came up shortly after the pcgs website was down for maintenance and when the change might have occurred.

I had to do this yesterday to be able to add to my registry set. Never got an email.

I received the email today as well, but have not taken any steps to follow what it wrote and don't intend to unless I am locked out of accounts.

When I went to login to the pcgs page it added a step for me to add my Name and then finished the process.
Don't know if you were logged out or not but if not then log out and then back in and see if it works.

I was able to stumble through it.
My problem was Safari. On Chrome- with the adblocker disabled, I got it all to work.

I got the email also. I couldn’t log into my PCGS account or the Registry unless I changed my password. It supposedly works for all of collectors.com, which I thought included the forums. The forums wouldn’t accept the new password, but does accept the old one.

My browser is Safari. I had no problem getting the new password to work wit the Registry or my account.

Interesting, I guess nothing is consistent. I am safari and no problems and did Not have to change any password. Maybe the password thing is related to difficulty type thing.
Yes the Forum is a different logon for me.

Meh, seems rather useless unless you're into card collecting, but yes I got that email and it seems legit just not useful for me.

I wasn’t interested in the card portion of the site, but I was for the Registry and the ability to submit. I had little choice, as probably did some others, but to get a new password because the one I used the day before wasn’t accepted any longer no matter how many times I tried.

I did not get that email.... got lots of other emails, so I do not feel neglected. Cheers, RickO

Pretty sure one account has always worked on all CU. I used my PCGS login to submit cards to PSA a year or two ago.

Just to clarify, I meant that they are forcing this change upon the coin collectors most of whom will not use or get any benefit from the other areas of CU. So its really just an exercise of frustration that is totally unnecessary from what I can see. I understand that for those who need access to the registry or to submit that it was required to jump through the hoops, lucky for me I use none of those functions so I have not been affected.

I got the email too. Before I got it, I couldn’t log into the forums with my old password and had to reset it. I didn’t know what was going on, but I reset my password no problems. It wasn’t until I got the email that I figured out what was going on. This was on my iPad where I had logged out. On my iPhone I’m still logged in under my old password, but most likely if I log out on my iPhone I’d have to update to my new password.

I signed up and all is well, but I don't think it is related to PCGS for checking grades. In any event, I signed up. Thanks

I suspect that is what was going on during the outage last week. The app quit working until I got this email telling me things had changed. Need to go through it to log into check my orders.

Then after about 4 days, I could get back into their app.
