Welcome to the forum!
Very impressive! A new member that can post nice clear photos and not something they found in a Walmart parking lot.
Welcome! I don't know the series very well so I'll pass on the grading and attribution but I do know that it is a very nice coin!!

XF and agree O137. Too easy on the attribution. 😉
A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
Welcome to the forum. Nice coin. I'm traveling or I would dive into Overton.

Nice coin! I guess 45?
Heck of a first post! Welcome to the board
As others have commented, O-137 (of course), which for those who aren't paying close attention is an R6- Die Marriage
My gut says VF35 ... probably has just a touch more steel/light bronze tone than it appears

Wow incredibly tough die marriage for that variety. Candidate variety to add to the redbook set. I would venture XF45. XF40 OBV with possible AU50 REV. would need to see in hand to be sure. There is one mint state O-137 that does exist. Congratulations to the new owner!
I'll guess 50

Sold for $6468
Seems like a good sellers price to me, did it come close to the expected sale price?

I thought that was strong money until I looked it up. Seems like the sale price was a little soft based on past results: https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1827-50c-overton-137-square-base-2/39736
@Flychance ... Welcome aboard. Late to the game, but I had guessed XF45.... Cheers, RickO
With so few past sales and many of them older, low population and a variety it is usually tricky to judge price.
The most recent sale I see on CF was at HA for a 45 with a CAC in Dec 2021 for $7800.

In the CF listing the XF40 that sold in Jan 2015 for 11K at HA (this was a pcgs but not attributed on the holder as O137 but rather noted in the auction title and description) appears to be the same coin that later sold in Aug 2015 at SD for 9K.
The pcgs price guide of XF40 $12,500 and XF45 $13,500 would appear to be high compared to these limited results. The price history indicates they have not been adjusted for many years (2018 and went slightly up, maybe a dealer sale?).

The latest auction back in December 2021 was a good indicator of last nights final hammer. Below, I've attached the most recent Auction values for the O-137.
I've had a few months to consider the value. One advantage, is that this is a NEW example, previously unseen. Several of the auctions below are 'recycled' or duplicate sales of the same coin at different dates/auctions. What I considered a key disadvantage to this example is the overall eye-appeal of the CBH. Something the GC photos (maybe) overhighlighted. The photo that starts this thread are unedited (yet under favorable conditions), The TrueView is probably the most accurate representation. Regardless, this particular CBH lacked the skin, tone, depth that Bust Enthusiasts value in the series.
