    Strike doubling. No added value.

    Not a doubled die.

It’s only a matter of time before a lot more of these start popping up when they’re only parking lot coins based on the recent trend.

But in Scrabble, double the value of an S and you have the value of a D, so there's the doubling...

The OP coin is not a doubled die.... That overdate is very interesting.... This is the second discussion on that coin and it sure looks as if could be real. Cheers, RickO

Why would you spend $5 on a severely damaged coin?

Why would you spend $5 on a severely damaged coin?

Because he thought it was a discovery coin for a previously unknown DDO.

So you turn around and list it on eBay as a DDO after you’ve been informed that it’s only strike doubling. Class act👌

Why are you selling this as a unique doubled die? The feedback you received says it clearly isn't. Deceiving potential buyers is something that is considered serious by many members here and I would recommend you cancel the listing.

Just a bit of advice for you. We (and you) learn things on these boards by leaving the information up for others to read long after we are done with the issue at-hand. If we all deleted everything once we got the information we wanted then the site would not nearly be as valuable to everyone else. In the future, leave your posts up so others can learn.

I think it's more about his getting caught trying to sell the problem.

If knowledge was gained 2 days ago, why did he wait til today to remove the listing? I think we all know the answer to that. The listing was removed promptly after it was noticed and posted in this thread.

    Yeah, I'M the problem.

I'm not the one who discovered your listing. I'm not the only one who expressed concern about what you were doing.

It would have been much better if you had simply owned up to your "mistake" and moved on.

We appreciate your ending the listing. I appreciate your taking ownership. But you responded at 1:53 pm on 5/31 about the strike doubling and the listing wasn't ended until after the listing was broadcast here. The connection between those events may not be as direct as it seems, but you can understand why we are connecting the two.

Strike doubling is very common. What is nearly impossible is a DDO with a DDR and a D/D.

  • jesbrokenjesbroken Posts: 10,137 ✭✭✭✭✭

Selling on ebay in no way makes it legit. Shame about the damage as it makes the value, regardless of strike, very little.
