Well, since GC is offering to ship a coin worth up to $10k without FedEx Overnight, I'm guessing their insurance doesn't require FedEx Overnight. My insurance policy has an entire page devoted to various shipping options, and a separate page covering details I separately negotiated with them. If I can get something that isn't boilerplate, I'm guessing companies that sell orders of magnitude more than I do can get modified terms for their insurance, too.
I made some assumptions and explained how I came up with them (above, go back and read them if you need to) which led to selecting FedEx Overnight pricing as the amounts to compare between Heritage and GC. If you want to make different assumptions, you are certainly welcome to do so.

Your argument I feel is pointless given everyone's complaints with the overall service (inclusive of money and not exclusive of timing) in your focusing on the very narrow factor of the cost only but even so my suspicion is that your assumptions are inaccurate. Can anyone, besides myself with my own very small sample size, confirm whether HA ships only via FedEx overnight? Because if they don't, which they probably don't but hopefully we'll find an answer soon, your argument on top of being pointless is incorrect.
People have complained about Heritage's overall service practically forever, yet they keep bidding with them. Based on that, I feel your argument is pointless.

I've also recently gotten a Heritage in 3 days. People are acting like it always takes weeks.
My wife and I are Legacy status at HA. The only benefit for having that is that they will ship my coins before I have even paid. I have not had any problems with HA, GC and DL. I had one shipment get lost at S&B and they quickly refunded my money. When they found it later, like 2 weeks, if I still wanted them. Yup! Got it!

I thought that we established that GC was $26.62 cheaper for a faster service, right?
You are saying that FedEx 2 Day is faster than FedEx Overnight? Is that your final answer?
Yes. Here's why - Eldorado has waited 19 days and low and behold - NO COIN! Seems like GC's 2 day service (really multiple members would attest to three days, but I digress) is faster than 19 days, or I most definitely failed my Honors Algebra 2 final today...

@MasonG So not FedEx overnight? So as mentioned above your method does not work out and mine does and it's a roughly $25 per delivery higher charge with HA. Plus myriad other issues for whatever those mean to anybody individually.

You might be fine with your Honors Algebra 2 but you failed Reasoning 101. According to Eldorado, his coins are shipping today, so there is no way for anybody to know how long it will take the shipping company to deliver them. As such, it is not possible to determine a difference in shipping time.
One more thing- there is a difference between shipping time and handling time. Just so you know.

Well, I must disagree with your reasoning. Heritage provides a service to get your coins to you in 19 days for 41 some odd dollars and GC provides a similar service to get your coins to you in 3 days, all at around 14 some odd dollars.
Therefore, GC has been able to provide the same service as Heritage, at a lower price, and faster. I don't care how fast it takes once the coins have been handed to the carrier, I care how long it takes to get the coins to me once that hammer falls. After all, that's what I'm paying for.
In all reality, there are much worse things to happen to me than my coins not getting there faster. But I do think it's unfair to state that Heritage provides the same service as GC. They really don't.

I think it's unfair to state that I have said things I haven't. My comments have nothing to do with the service provided by Heritage/GC. They are about comparing what Heritage and GC charge for the same specific FedEx shipping option. I don't know why this is so hard for so many to understand.

I don't know anything about legacy status but when the initial billing info comes thru it makes a note that the invoice will be shipped Open Account to expedite shipping. Also on the Payment Options in the Notes it states to maintain A-1 status pay by date. So I am guessing it is the status that is the qualifying open account shipping. So maybe look for status in payment method notes.
For one recent (last couple months) data point:
GC I had 2 lots at just under $1K and chose the $15 shipping option - total $16 with per lot fee
HA I had 2 lots at just under $500 and it was shipped for $13.68
Both went to my POBox USPS (priority envelope for both I believe)
HA was a little quicker but probably because of noted shipping status.

My last point. GC does not charge the same for the same shipping service. If you did choose the same shipping service, the costs would be close, a rounding error. But GC's service will be weeks faster, which is not the same service. If I want a slower service, I will have to go to a lower price point where they do not charge the same. Therefore the services are not the same, at least where the price levels are equal.

This is NOT true. The "service" is the shipping method not the total auction experience. And, despite what some would lead you to believe, there are Heritage lots that get shipped as quickly as the GC lots. Believe it or not, some people do get their Heritage lots faster than GC.
Heritage has an auction in August that I want to bid in, should I start the clock on the "service" today?

It's not really a fight other than people trying to over make their case. When speaking of shipping cost, we should only be comparing identical shipping methods. When speaking of shipping times, the delivery method is the smallest distinction and shouldn't be considered.
Maybe we should discuss shipping and handling separately.
Bottom line, Heritage shipping charges are not exorbitant for the shipping method. Heritage handling times are, however, SOMETIMES excessive.

I was including handling times, which accounts for the difference in our stances. Remove that, and I agree with you.

How is it that Heritage, just can't ship promptly? I won a coin on May 4th. It's been 16 days, and I've not received any notification, so it looks like I will continue to wait. To add insult, the laggard's charged me over $40.00 in shipping fees, and then when I inquired with customer service, the friendly woman informed me that for an additional $30.00 she might get things moved up in the queue. I responded that I wasn't interested in paying over $70.00 to ship one PCGS slab. Let's contrast with Great Collections. I buy on Sunday, and I receive on Wednesday. Yup, 2 days, always on time, no issues. Someone knows how to do this....Heritage, you listening?
Is there some secret decoder ring, or password I am missing that gets Heritage to ship in less than 2-3 weeks? Please let me in on the secret!
UPDATE: I did reach out to Heritage Customer Service this morning, and was informed my coin would be shipping out today, for delivery tomorrow/Tuesday. Additionally, they offered their apologies, and a $50.00 auction voucher, which was a very nice touch. To be fair, I like many aspects of the Heritage operation. Their catalogs, and auction site are world class. I hope they can get a handle on their shipping processes, and bring them up to reasonable standards.
Glad to read this; and hopefully service will now improve.
It used to be to get fast shipping from Heritage you had to have an established credit account, then they would ship without payment holds. Not sure if this is still the case. I'm getting close to retirement so I don't buy as much as I used to.

Are coin collectors the most impatient people on earth ?
Lots of people ship to:
1- A business address with a receptionist
2- An apartment address with a concierge
3- A home address that is seasonal
4- A home address that is empty during the day
When packages are randomly shipped 1 to 4 weeks after an auction with no advance notice or scheduling, it is impossible to plan ahead for the timely and secure pickup of said package.

I get the same text when Heritage ships FedEx. It comes from Fed Ex.
Let's all poop on HA! ok, I'm also disappointed how long it took to ship my winning lots. But here are the facts.
1. Unless you have approved credit, HA holds e-checks for 5 days before it gets in the shipping dept queue.
2. If you set up your profile correctly you will get an email when your product ships
3. if you go to your order you will find the tracking number so you can track right there or copy paste to the shipper website.
4. HA website says in its terms you can expect 7 to14 days for shipment
Just so happens I received the shipping email today, 14 days after I paid by e-check. Tracking says label created, will most likely be received at FEDEX tomorrow. By the way tracking says FEDEX 2 day signature required. Yep, GC ships much quicker, I wish HA did as well.

I've been a Heritage customer for over 25 years and have an open account. In the last few months I won lots in 3 separate auctions, delivery time is about 3 weeks for each auction. I confirmed with customer service that my credit account is good and they are not holding for payments to clear. I like Heritage and have lots of fond memories at their live auctions, late night buffets and piles of candy bars. I am guessing their shipping department is just over whelmed and they can't find employees. For me the best solution is stop bidding and give them some time to get the shipping problems worked out. I am still a fan but I don't want to add any more work to their shipping department. Is anyone having better luck on shipping with other Auction Houses? If so I would appreciate your input. Thanks

Study for the Logic test.
Good thing those aren’t graded
. I always hated taking those paper folding ones they used to give during standardized testing…

Lol
Fair enough
You could, the ending point in the scenario would be farther out. Really I think we’re going to be at standstill here and I don’t want to seem like I’m bashing Heritage, so I think I’ll stop here and concede the fight

Agreed on all counts. I didn’t want to use argument so I went with fight, neither word really worked and I was unable to come up with another.
I was including handling times, which accounts for the difference in our stances. Remove that, and I agree with you.

I think I smell blood in the water 🫣😂🤣
Glad to read this; and hopefully service will now improve.
It used to be to get fast shipping from Heritage you had to have an established credit account, then they would ship without payment holds. Not sure if this is still the case. I'm getting close to retirement so I don't buy as much as I used to.
I use ACH. No payment holds.

Lots of people ship to:
1- A business address with a receptionist
2- An apartment address with a concierge
3- A home address that is seasonal
4- A home address that is empty during the day
When packages are randomly shipped 1 to 4 weeks after an auction with no advance notice or scheduling, it is impossible to plan ahead for the timely and secure pickup of said package.
When I win an auction with GC and it ships Fed-X I get a text aleart telling me when it will arrive.

Don't worry. Now you'll be moving on to math where the numbers really stop mattering and it's all about letters. And your spelling here looks pretty good, so you'll be fine.
And just wait until the letters are in Greek
I'm sitting here wondering how many dead horses there are from this thread!
Here you go!
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
I received my latest from HA a week after the auction with no problem.

Thanks
GreatCollections has shipped every one of my dozens of auction wins within 48 hours.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
Stacks is fast, too.
I have experienced the same shipping woes at Heritage as you.
