New CBH for the box of 10...grade up

Could wind up being 20, who knows...
It's my fun times at the early mint box and I'm trying to fill it with pieces that have a bit of "drama"

Playing guess the grade with me is like shooting ducks in a pond, but go ahead anyway πŸ˜‚

This coin is no worse than VF30, but I could see the graders saying 25 for the weak strike (typical for this die pair) as well as for the OC and rim dings.

I love the original surfaces, and the overdate is pretty cool too!

Nice NEWP Jordy! Is that the one you decided to snap up in less than 13 seconds? ;)

    Great look!! <3<3<3

    I Like it 😁

According to the flip it came with, the ding is a clip..whatever. could be a planchet flaw, a mint made cut or just a reggae old ding. 'S why I love VF's, cuz I don't really have to care anymore about issues like that if there's something about the coin I really love.
In this case, the OC 🀀

PS..it really is no worse than 30!

    I'll set a stopwatch next time πŸ˜„

Funny thing about the look.. I appreciate the effort made with TV's to get the color, but I was super psyched to open up the box and see that this coin head on was my favorite type of hard gray, antique brown.
The tilt for color aspect is a lovely bonus though for sure πŸ‘Œ

So I was asking myself what is going on with that date. Not the overdate. Found the O-101a for the die crack at the bottom of date. Then I kept looking and said it must also be a die clash with the E P U banner for above of the date. Or is it something else?

    Pretty chocolaty coin!
    Cool die crack, too.
It's funny. I just purchased my first bust coin. A 1811. PCGS graded. Mine is a VF 20.
No offense, but yours looks more worn than mine. What do you think?

Funny, I had hit the seller of this coin up for better pics to try and attribute the marriage... if he'd ever sent them, it'd have been mine πŸ˜‚
It's sort of apples and oranges comparing details on cbh for grading sometimes.
The 14/3 has well known late die state issues, striking issues plagued the early dates, relief was sometimes to high, etc....graders who know the series sometimes get it right..
I could add that the TV's on this 14/3 make the surfaces look pretty dull.
They're not, and often that's another good way to come up with the right grade.

    That's right!
The clash and the crack kind of frame the dateπŸ‘

    nice half.

imo, the obverse is angry, not o/c, which is it's own right is maybe even scarcer for the date/issue than an o/c. they may be out there but i sure don't recall seeing them.

    Angry??
Not sure what your seeing, but it's definitely looks more like misaligned dies
    Than truly off center.

BHB had it right, no worse than 30.
FYI, I do have coins that aren't graded VF30, just doesn't appear that way most of the time πŸ˜‚

I think it is beautiful, and fully deserving of a 30 grade.
