There are 30 teams in the NBA. 20 of those teams made it to the "Playoffs" this year.....the whole "NBA Playoff" thing is a joke....A scam....ergo, crickets.
You realize, if course, that NBA threads are not allowed on the Sports Forum.
Around these parts the NBA is like Voldemort,.......... it must not be named.
The only exception to this rule are threads that criticize LeBron James.
I can't ever remember a time where the East has been this loaded with Finals caliber teams. Boston battles to land the two seed and they end up with the preseason Vegas favorite to win it all in Brooklyn. Should make for an entertaining battle.

Here in the Dallas area there is significant disappointment because of Luka's injury. Mavs fans are also wary of him coming back and suffering the same fate as Durant did.
I'm watching Boston Brooklyn.

That ending sequence was crazy.
They played pretty sloppy at times between all of the turnovers and missed shots at the basket but part of that could have been from having seven days off in between games. Their defense on Durant was near perfect and hopefully they can replicate it again. Can't wait for game two.

i only follow Celts and Mavs really. Mavs advanced into the 2nd round for the first time since 2011.
And that was with Luke missing half of the series. I don't think there were many people outside of Texas who would have predicted that the Mavs would win two playoff games with Luka on the sidelines. Jalen Brunson has definitely raised his upcoming FA price tag with his play over the past two weeks.

I see the Celtics winning the Championship this year. Down 8 with 2minutes in the 3rd, might even win this game. Either way...they will win the series.
Milwaukee just came out and hit them right in the mouth. Ime needs to get Tatum & Brown to slow their game down and get the offense to work more on getting better shots. If they're gonna live and die by the three then this series might not last long. Time to regroup and come out ready on tuesday.

As for the other series I am watching. Mavericks lost Game q to the Suns. For anyone who doesn't follow the Mavericks, it is important to understand that their starters 2-5 are the worst squad of all playoff teams. As a result, Luka is with the ball too much and if the shots aren't falling for a few guys they don't win. Also, if they could just combine the game of their two bigs into one player, they would be much better off. Lol.

I watched the game. He hurt his shoulder or upper body, whatever. Why are they saying he hurt his quad? Come on, man, seriously. Toughen up, buttercup, this is the second round of the playoffs and a must win game.

Great bounce back win. Now they gotta go to Milwaukee and steal one back.
He rehurt his quad injury from earlier in the season that he missed time for when some player kneed him. I think if he was anywhere close to being able to play he would have been out there. The team probably thought that he would hurt them more than help and ultimately we didn't need him tonight. We will on friday though.

..in my opinion, despite the fact that we won going away without him, I was a bit surprised he was out with a leg injury when it was him an upper body injury that took him off the court in game 1 at the end of the first half. I realize that he said he also got hit later in the leg. Still, I was just surprise, because going into the game we didn't know it would be a blowout win and it felt like a must win. I'm still picking us to win it all. ☘️ 🏆
He’s by far the toughest player on that team, I think he would have played had he been able to. It’s weird that they’re getting three days off between games but it’s definitely in their favor.

I was until the Hawks bombed out.
Living here in Dallas/Fort Worth , I have been invested in Luka since before he was drafted. I'm a Boston fan forever, so I dont feel that sting. But I am entrenched in Mavericks stuff, so I see it. Mavs fans , a lot of them, know that the best thing that could happen for them now is if they get swept. They don't want Mark Cuban thinking that they are any closer than they really are.
I'm not up in Boston, so I don't hear too much of the fans. Just talking to family. But in my opinion, anything less than a Finals appearance is a disappointment. And the expectation is championship.
I wouldn't say its Finals or bust here especially when that road has to go through the current reigning NBA champion then likely Miami who was the #1 seed for most of the season. If the C's lose 4-1 then,sure,I'd be a bit disappointed but we'll see if that happens or not. Ime made some great adjustments after that game one loss and I have faith that he'll do it again if they lose again.

I am hopeful of seeing them steal one in Milwaukee. The announcers in that last game mentioned the Bucks are 18-4 in their last 22 at home but made no mention of Boston's 17-5 road record in that same time span. i think that this series is gonna go the full 7 games.

I guess the way I feel is .. this team, and this coach, can win it all this year. It's definitely a tough road through the East.
Playoff season is when I tune into basketball. Have no real allegiance to any one team. Just knowing that players step it up this time of year makes me more interested in viewing.

The intensity is definitely on another level. You can say that for all sports in the playoffs, but hockey, baseball, and basketball are such long seasons that there are always a lot of games with less than stellar intensity.
So close to stealing one when they pretty much played like crap most of the game,especially Tatum. He's really got to get his chit together by this next game and start contributing toward a must win game 4.

That last sequence was wild. Before the second free throw, actually before the first, despite the time left, I really felt you had to go intentional miss. And they did. And it aaaaalmost worked.
We had a really nice run to get it to that point after being down, I think, 14.

Kind of was a replay of game three until Horford & Tatum got going in the 4th. That Al drive by dunk and elbow to Giannis face was icing on the cake. It’s about time he got a taste of his own medicine.
They still have to win two more games but getting back HCA was huge.

I am really appreciating Horford's contributions. I am seeing Bucks fans saying what I have been thinking all along. Giannis, stop taking all those threes. Stop with too many jumpers. And just take it to the hole, please
I honestly think that many of those three attempts by Giannis are his way of resting on offense where he’s taking a possession off from all of the contact. Physically he’s a freak but all of these minutes and contact tends to wear him down by the fourth. Please keep shooting though Giannis.

Believe me, I want him to keep shooting. I just can't believe that he wastes so many possessions like that. Your theory makes sense.
Their fourth quarter offense was really a thing of beauty, 43 points on 16-19 from the field for an 84.2 fg% and that was with half of their rotation in foul trouble. Hopefully they can carry some of this over at home.

I fully expect us to go up 3-2 then close it out in Milwaukee.
Mavs got trounced. I didn't watch it. I read sme analysis blaming KIdd's lack of adjustments, 3rd quarter, not adjusting to a change of defense by Milwaukee.
Hopefully we see Timelord back out there tonight, we need that second big on the floor to account for Brook Lopez in the paint while Horford chases Giannis around. At some point though I wouldn't mind seeing that small-ball lineup again of Al,the J's,Smart & White that closed out the game especially if our offense gets stagnant at any point. That group was able to push the ball on offense and help create points before the Bucks set up their D. The only downside is Milwaukee gets a favorable mismatch in the paint with Lopez in the game.
On a sidenote,Ime Udoka finished 4th in Coach of the Year voting,not bad for his rookie season. The way he was able to turn their season around was phenomenal but the guys that finished ahead of him all had teams that were great all season.
I haven't watched any of that series yet but at least game 6 is back at home for Dallas and with the home team winning every game so far they'll have a good shot taking it to 7. At that point anything can happen especially with CP3's history of losing in big games. The Suns may have the better team but Luka is capable of taking over a game at anytime.

There is a good chance that three of the four second round series will go seven games (Golden State is up 3-1 on Memphis and will likely win that series in 5 or 6 games).
His fourth place finish is probably less of a side note and more an addition to your first comments. Great coaching. Not afraid of making changes. Trying things. Seeming to hold guys accountable.
