    Great condition too.
I wonder if it fell out of someone else’s package. Lol

    In a sense...

I would guess it was a little rough and spotted to pass for "Good or better" so the guy who shipped a package of buffalos just spent it. Even though it's a decent VF- but unless you have a lot of these they're too much effort and shipping costs to bother with.

    It's just a guess.

Buffalos in this condition haven't circulated since 1959/ '60. The odds of it having been used by a shipper at the post office are extremely high. The odds of finding this coin at the grocery store are extremely low.

Very nice change find. I have not had a Buffalo nickel in change for - I think - five months. I believe it was last October I got one at the ice cream store when I picked up a couple of pints. It was not as nice as that one. Cheers, RickO

Not surprised - the USPS has more of an inventory of classic coins than some dealers do - :D

Amazing! I'd like to think a coin collector much like all of us put that back out there to generate interest and discussion. I used to spend circulated IKE dollars all the time too. "Umm...What's this? Lemme go ask my manager...."

Great find! That Buffalo is in great condition for being found in the wild after so many years; I love stories like this-- congrats!

Haven't seen this nice a Buffalo nickel in circulation in a long time. Congrats on the find!

Every once in a while, I'll spend a dateless Buffalo or a few junk Wheaties just for the amusement of seeing people's faces. I did that at the post office once, and the clerk's eyes nearly popped out of her head. It was funny watching her trying her best to keep her composure. One day I'm going to spend a Large Cent with a hidden camera.

I've dropped more than a few dateless Buffalo nickels and worn 1900's dated Indian Head Cents into Coinstar but nothing like the OP's coin...
