Curious about the rare, mysterious and beautiful 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos?
Got a few boxes in today. 1 was my COMC shipment. It had these for current player projects I am slowly working on
Then I (insert gasp) I got a sub back. Bad news in contained 90% of cards my brother in law wanted to get slabbed that his father had when he was a kid. So in between the PSA 1.5-3 Aaron, Mantle, Clemente’s etc. I threw these in
Nothing to get excited about but thought they were clean enough for the most part.
one of my grails was finally obtained after selling off some key cards in return to fund it.
A 2003 Topps Rookie Photoshoot Dwyane Wade Auto. These were pack inserted with a stated print run of 56. An unknown additional amount were printed and given to the players to sign and give to their friends and family. The ones with the hologram on the back were one of the original Topps pack issued, without the hologram were player issued. This one happens to have a hologram and was one of the original 56 pack issued. I own a Carmelo and Chris Bosh that lack the hologram and were their personal ones.
The other is a Chromographs, my second one, which was lumped in part of the deal for the Photoshoot. Both were pack pulled but the owner back in 2003 and kept in really nice condition since then. The UD Glass Carmelo was also from the same seller, being my third copy I now own.
Pre-rookie much harder to find than his 90-91 overproduced NHL rookie cards of this Leaf and Swedish great. Arguably Sweden’s most accomplished international player in best on best competitions. Very happy to own this.
Nice Sundin, really like those Euro issues. What a great player, always loved watching him play, those big skilled guys like Sundin and Lemieux are something else to watch.
Those Semic issue are so tough to find, and not cheap when they do come up. I don't have a single late 80's-early 90's copy in my Roy PC. Nice pickup.
Main collecting focus is Patrick Roy playing days 85/86-02/03, expect 1/1, National/All-Star stamped cards.PC Completion: 2,548/2,952; 86.31% My Patrick Roy PC Website:https://proy33collector.weebly.com
Great variety of wonderful stuff posted my fellow collectors. Such a wide assortment and fun to look/read through on here.
Now to bring down the quality a bit with my hauls from the past month.
1st up some stuff from Marden's, Dollar Tree and Wally World.
Bam Bam's and the Buckaroo Banzai patches from Marden's. Figures were around $12 each which is really good. The patches were $3 for the pair which probably isn't much of a deal but I like them. The DVD set was from Dollar Tree. No titles listed so expected the worst but not bad. Haven't checked the quality as they jammed 4 movies on each DVD so heavy compression. Also picked up the PS3 game there as well. No longer a $1 store but now $1.25 store and picked up a handful of other Blu-ray's as well. I'll spare everyone that torture and not post those.
Onto music related items.
1st up (hold back the laughter) bought these two sealed sets at Marden's for $3 each.
K-pop. Not my thing AT ALL! But new sealed hard to pass them up. Onto the shelf they go and that's where they'll stay.
And while wandering Wally World spotted Eddie hanging out in the electronic section by himself so figured he needed a new home.
Not a huge collector of Funko Pops as many of them just don't look right (my opinion) but sometimes they just get the feel of the individual down really well so add them here and there when one tickles my fancy.
Now onto what nobody is waiting for, vinyl. Could have been two large lots but the 1st lot didn't pan out as the seller initially was willing to answer questions on condition and was supposed to get back to me but after emailing they would do that went silent. It happens, no big deal.
Then I spot later in the month a seller having a clearance sale. I was slightly confused by the listing as some slight discrepancies in various sections of the listing and sent off some questions. Short version, by the time the seller got back to me the listing had sold but he was willing to set up another listing for me. Will say this was one of the most unique experiences as it was for 30 albums of my choice from his current listings for $29.99 and free shipping. If you wanted a $49.99 album, into the lot it could go. So here is my purchase.
Packaging was incredible. This seller clearly has an understanding of how to pack, ship and most importantly grade. Public shout out to atclassicvibes for the extreme professional manner of the entire transaction from start to finish.
Well padded all around the records. Also of note all records (except for sealed obviously) removed from inside of the covers and placed outside. This is to stop seam splits because you just don't know how the PO is handling these. Also (again except for sealed) albums were in plastic sleeves which is also a nice plus.
Wide assortment here. Some you've probably heard of and probably a good amount you've not heard of. Sealed, autographed and used but not abused. Each listing I picked from was well described with what is some of the best pictures and descriptions I have found from someone selling vinyl on eBay. Seller not only visually grades but listens to each one with headphones on (honestly the best way to grade of which I also use that method), describes all faults and also takes pictures showing any faults. Not a single surprise in this lot as all were exactly as expected.
I know, shut up you're saying so onto the pics:
Kylie Minogue - Kylie (South Korean release with all inserts. Visually VG with lots of visible LIGHT scratches, plays VG+ with minimal noise for most of the album).
Sir Prize - Hello....Hello.... (Autographed. VG+ Nice & clean. Clean playback with minimal noise here and there. Some visual issues not effecting play).
P.J. and Boby - Love (Still sealed).
Genius Touch. (VG. Some light scuffs/scratches but plays much better then grade given. Had to put a black box over a little something, something. Don't want to get banned showing that cover).
Millie Jackson - For Men Only. (VG. Nice & clean, STRONG VG, some noise during playback but mostly minimal. Interesting for an album released in 1980 in that it has an Objectionable Language sticker from the manufacturer which is a few years before the PMRC was formed (and that's all I will say about that).
The Cringe - Hiding In Plain Sight (Still Sealed).
Jesse Winchester - Third Down, 110 To Go (NM Rhino reissue/translucent brown. Clean, great quality playback).
Shadows Of Dreams - November Falling / With You (VG+. Nice and clean. Plays NM. Autographed by Tony Aloupis - Vocals/guitars).
Dueling Banjos (Lowest grade of the lot VG with scuffs/scratches with bit of noise but otherwise really nice sound quality).
John Hiatt - All Of A Sudden (VG+. Nice & clean. Mostly clean playback. Some noise at start of album otherwise close to NM playback).
John Sebastian - Tarzana Kid (VG. Nice & clean, clean playback with some light tics and noise here and there. STRONG VG).
The Elephant – The Elephant (1975. Version not listed on Discogs).
Robert Palmer - Pride. (VG+. Nice & clean with clean playback. Plays close to NM. VERY light factory marks).
Runner - Runner (Still sealed).
The Bob Crewe Generation - Street Talk. (NM. Nice & clean. Clean playback).
The Stylistics – Fabulous (Version not listed on Discogs).
James Taylor - Sweet Baby James (1970. Repress. Includes poster VG. Nice & clean with light scuffs. Occasional light click/pop. STRONG for the grade (most would call it VG+).
Alex Taylor - Alex Taylor With Friends And Neighbors. (VG. Nice & clean with some clicks/tics. STRONG for the grade (most would call it VG+).
Ellen Shipley - Breaking Through The Ice Age. (VG+. Nice & clean, great playback. Plays real close to NM. Some VERY light marks).
Carolyne Mas - Modern Dreams. (VG+. Nice & clean. Clean playback with some occasional clicks here and there).
Chris Thompson - High Cost Of Living. (VG+ Labels misprint/out of proper alignment. Plays in the NM range).
Dobie Gray - New Ray Of Sunshine. (VG+. Nice & clean. Clean playback in the NM range).
The View - Generosity. (VG+. Grade due to some very light scratches. Plays in the NM range).
The Faragher Brothers - Open Your Eyes (NM. Plays great. Was sealed but didn't like how tight the plastic was as it was causing some bending towards the end that opens so freed it. The fear is warping due to being to tight but no issues at all).
Justin Hayward - Night Flight. (VG+. Nice & clean, clean playback in the NM range).
Teri DeSario - Caught (VG+. Plays great. Was sealed but was partially opened so freed as well. Turns out it's the Promo version and according to Discogs is "worth" the least out of the pressings).
Amy Bolton - Do Me A Favor (Still sealed. Also very tight so will probably free this one).
Jack Wagner - Lighting Up The Night (VG. Nice & clean. Some tics at start but cleans up into the VG+ range thus the VG grade).
Marty Campion - Daydream (Not listed on Discogs. Autographed on back).
The Singhs - Science Fiction (Still sealed. Not listed on Discogs).
Close up of the warning sticker.
Autographed ones.
And Kylie Minogue – Kylie with all inserts.
Now if you're still here and read all that you deserve a nice virtual cookie.
Edited to add Added my assigned grades to the vinyl for those that are interested.
They all look delicious. Wish I had somewhere near by that sold such things but living in the backwoods up here in Maine kinda limited on things like this. Might just have to look up some recipes to bake my own.
When a large group of PSA graded cards from the impossible set I am currently chasing showed up, I decided to see if any were off of my need list and there was one - Sherrard Robertson. There were also a few I won for pretty reasonable prices, though the bigger stars all went for very, very high prices. I personally chased about 12 cards and came away with eight, including the much needed Robertson, with the added bonus of several being tougher ad variations: La Sortija backs…
…I now just need ten cards; nine if the Oswald Bluege doesn’t really exist, as I suspect.
