Who is the earliest active member on the PCGS forums that still checks in?

I've only been here since 2001, so it isn't me. Who has been here the longest? Pipe in if you're still watching, even if you don't post so much anymore and just like to read the latest.

@bennybravo - you must be among the longest; due to a platform change in early 2001, I believe there are no members listed as before Feb 2001?
Hey Higashiyama, I didn't know that. I still see a buncha folks that preceded me who still post every so often. I was just curious as to who has the longest tenure. There are great and very intelligent posters here and I've always enjoyed reading their opinions. Some of the newer folks here are sharp as a tack too! Love all you guys.

No one is listed as being here prior to late February, 2001 because of the software change that @Higashiyama mentioned above. Aside from me, I can recall @braddick, @ricko and @oreville as being here now and as being here prior to the board change. I was posting here in the 1990s. Of course, once I post this comment I will no doubt remember others, as well.

Sounds right, prior attendance went poof long ago.
Glad to see you're still here TomB!!! I remember you from very early on. Glad you're still around.

I still use the avatar that I used when the original avatar options were given to us. On the boards prior to the February, 2001 update we were not allowed to have avatars and we just had usernames show up. Once the boards were updated they gave us about two dozen avatars to choose from. If I recall correctly, I was the only one to choose the green demon and now they don't have that group of avatars offered anymore.

I think TomB is probably one of the OG's of these forums. Much respect to him. One of the earliest posters, and a great contributor over the years. Special mention to Braddick too as I know he's still around and a great guy who's been here forever. I'm sure many folks here have had very positive dealings with him over the years. I know I have. Would love to hear from more folks that have been here for awhile. I know there are many great people here with so much passion for this hobby!

Been here since 2005. It was like the Wild West back then. It's smoothed out since.
The DISAGREE feature was responsible for most of the "shoot outs".

I’ve actually wondered to myself at least a few times where that @TomB avatar originated.
I always assumed it was a selfie.

I can't remember when I joined, but it probably wasn't much earlier than February 2001.
Over 20 years and still here moursund. That's really cool! Definitely among the earliest still active!

I miss the DISAGREE feature. Made you question your response and check yourself. I learned more from 1 disagree than 10 agrees.
I was on the forum prior to the change in software back in 2001 and remember TomB, Braddick, Wondercoin, Ricko, Airplanenut and a few others from that time period.
Lots of people here before me...Joined March 4, 2004 1:30AM.

I was here before 2001
and I know others were here before 2001
It's been sometime since that day even Dave had a Q and A at that time!
IMS when I signed up you could still find posts back to about 1997. I've forgotten most of them but remember seeing the guys here so far. I think Dog97 might have been one of the earliest. Surprisingly, relatively few of these earliest ones were still posting even when I finally showed up in April, '02.
I joined in April 2002 and this was then and is now a vibrant community.

Coming up on my 20th anniversary (3/2002) - still a newby compared to TomB and others.
I disagree.
lol
Not even close to one of the earliest, I joined in Sep 02.

Gad, Dog97. What a blast from the past! I miss him ... among many others. @Wondercoin was pretty early, though I don't know if he was here prior to the Feb 2001 change.
Same icon, same user name since November 30th, 2001.

But I left in the middle for almost 19 years! ... 😂
I joined pre-2001. Probably the very late 1990s.
I was nowhere near original, but coming up on 18 years -- that's like a million in Internet time. It's amazing to me that the place is still here and still about the same. Not much else is.
I registered in 2003 but was lurking for years before that.

i started here back in 1997.
the longest serving member I recall is amwldcoin. Who joined with me when we both moved over from ebay which was once the biggest internet coin forum.
I’ve been here a while, and before that, does anyone remember the rec.coins.collecting usenet group?
IIRC, it was 1999 when I joined. The platform change had some glitches and booted a few of us off.
ah crap. i forgot all about that. i was yappin' it up with some interesting people over there, including some women that had some nice booty (coins).
I was on rec.collecting.coins in the early 1990s, though mostly I was on rec.climbing !
I didn't join here until 2010.

That's a blast from the past for sure, the Usenet days! Do you remember the Usenet Oracle? My favorite group was alt.folklore.urban.
Thanks for this thread. I learned some interesting statistics about my own posting history.
From mid 2002 when I first joined as "northcoin" I found out I had close to 5,000 posts which were accompanied by 1,500 likes and 106 lols. Since 2019 as "1northcoin" I have half that number of posts but 6,000 likes and 285 lols.
It was nice to learn that I have become more likable in my older age.
I joined here in the late 90's. When the forum software changed (Feb, 2001) @TomB messaged me and told me I had to rejoin (I was in Seattle at the time). It was a 'new' forum and we all started from zero posts and could get custom avatars (which I did). Back then we had the Open Forum too...that was wild... and the 'wildness' is why it was discontinued. Great forum, have learned so much here. Cheers, RickO
I'm not so sure...LOL, I don't remember that far back. I never really participated here after I joined in the beginning. I earned a lot of feedback over there on the ebay forums. We had quite the group and several good gatherings at the FUN show and others!
I would guess David Hall who was one of the founders of PCGS.

When is the last time he logged in?
Rick Montgomery, too, when he was President of PCGS would often drop in on the boards and discuss coins with us. Obviously, this is prior to his move to NGC in the very early 2000's.

this has to be the post of the week, seriously funny!
20+ yrs ago, who knew what a selfie would even mean.
here since April 2001, but was part of whatever went poof prior to this new platform.
Lurking many years in between but always great times indeed.
Compared to a lot of you, I'm still kinda new, but I joined in late 2007 and this is definitely my home.

Not that I am an active poster but I have been here since May 2001.
I have learned, forgotten and re-learned a lot over the years here.
