my new favorite coin......... thanks MrEureka

boiler78boiler78 Posts: 3,069 ✭✭✭✭✭

Andy Lustigs' table is always a favorite stop at any coin show. He handles a wide range of numismatic material...... everything from patterns and cool error coins to world coins. I happened by his table at the FUN show and he showed me a coin that I didn't know I needed but having the coin in hand quickly changed that. I couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of the show and after I got home I contacted Andy and gave it a new home. Thanks Andy!

1663 - a looooong time ago! I bet that is just way cool to have in hand and to think about its history.

    A great strike for 1663.

Congratulations! Regarding "in hand", if you haven't held a gold 8 escudo outside of a holder, I'd highly recommend it (just perhaps not with this high grade example).

There are very few numismatic experiences that can replicate holding an ounce of pirate treasure in your bare hand. I have a worn doubloon on my desk and play with it regularly.

Cobs are awesome! Even better in gold! That one is a beast! It has a very nicely centered Shield, and a clear overdate to boot! Very cool.

Andy's table routinely has many coins I don't know I need. That said, my wallet often says it doesn't matter how much I need them, I need to wait.

    Very cool coin!

    Gorgeous coin @boiler78!

Compared to other Spanish gold from that era I've seen the photos look a bit dark. Do the photos represent what it looks like in hand?

First one I have ever seen and wow glad I didn't hold it in my hand. That is so beautiful it is hard to put words together that describes it.
