Just how many coin selling infomercials are there on TV?

I just flipped through my DirectTV channels for the first time in a very long time and see 5 unique coin selling infomercials on the air right now (duplicates marked with "*"):
89 VISION Rare Silver Stunning Kennedys
95 CSHP Silver Rare Coins
99 XTRA Chopper's Rare Coins & Collectibles
223 CSHP Silver Rare Coins*
224 AVC COIN - Collectible Coins with Steve and Don
227 MALL The Coin Vault
255 XTRA Chopper's Rare Coins & Collectibles*
262 VISION Rare Silver Stunning Kennedys*
Is this a new development, or have there always been this many home shopping coin selling infomercials?

I notice them mostly on the weekends (except Coin Vault which is on Mon, Tues, & Thurs evenings). I sometimes catch Rick Tomaskas but can never tell if his shows are live presentations or repeats..........
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
I hear them on channels my wife watches (while I am doing other things, like this forum)... I laugh at the rubbish they spew.... Of course, I have not seen/heard them all. Years ago I tuned into one of those shows - watched for about ten minutes, turned it off. Fishing for suckers. Cheers, RickO
@ricko “Fishing for suckers” is right!
They sell bullion ASE that someone had graded (never understood that) and they charge 200 / coin (100 today, and 100 on this day next month) which is crazy for a coin that comes in tubes of 20 and you can buy on providentmetals.com or APMEX, kitco, etc for ~30 dollars.
Recently they had all 6 2021 Morgan / Peace dollars for 3500 dollars ...!! Good grief!
But to the OP I think these have become more prevalent lately as the coin market has heated up...
How about that warm feeling you get when you see them selling something you bought right, and now has suddenly doubled or quadrupled. My associate sez that’s not a good way to value our collection 😸🙀

I dislike the long pump up then the price. But I do like seeing the coin on the boob tube and always wonder who is buying them at this price.
Hoard the keys.
Only watch when I need a laugh.
The selling prices are ridiculous.
I love when they sell raw coins at 3 to 4 times what they are worth, and I can buy the same coin in a PCGS holder, at a fraction of the cost.

Kennedys are my quest...
TOO MANY!!!
I watch them ALL the time, as I really enjoy the commentary.
Would I ever purchase from them?
Not on your life!!

Carnival barkers. Between them and the counterfeits, I don't know which is worse.
Rick Tomaskis will pass his good fortune on to you - (this is the last chance, folks)
Embarrassing for the hobby.
Successful BST deals with mustangt and jesbroken. Now EVERYTHING is for sale.
In 10 or 20 years it will be REAL GOOD to you.....

Buyer beware, or better yet, don't buy
Avoid Disappointment and Future Regret.
It’s like anything else. I have bought from most of them and received some very good deals. I don’t have to buy anything but a good deal is a good deal. Pick your seller. I don’t refuse to buy because of where they advertise. 🤨

There seems to be more now than just a few years ago.
I watch for a few moments now and then just for the laugh.
They can ruin the hobby for a novice collector just getting started when they realize they have been taken,
Now you have my curiosity piqued. I have watched more than a few of these infomercials for the entertainment value, but I have yet to be enticed to buy anything by the price.
What are some example of these good deals?
Indian Head $10 Gold Date Set Album
The last one I almost saw was for a silver plated Morgan Dollar like thing that was dated, I believe, 1889-CC. A fool and their money are soon departed. A few years ago, I saw an ad for a gold plated thing that was supposed the commemorate the 1929 Half Eagle. It was “a copy of a rare coin” that was really just one more way to throw away $30.
There’s more 😉

You must have bought in July 2001 when silver was About $6.92 an ounce.

I watch them to get a fix and get some smiles. Never purchased a thing
All I know is when I was at the hospital, people were selling PCGS slabbed gold coins on TV!

Well said..!!
Yeah, HSN Mike. He's doing that thing the other guy above mentioned that irks me, grading bullion eagles. And even going so far as getting provenance at which mint they were produced, and that oh so exclusive "Advance Release" - which only means you are an "elite" authorized purchaser and got your coins early and jammed up the grading companies with your biznezz. hmmmm
Dont even mention his "exclusive" slab cores - oh so rare (manufactured rarity). lol
