Just had my first experience with this. I bought a raw card that went to authentication. It didn’t pass inspection so I was issued a refund. The message was something like the card could not be determined to be authentic or did not match the description. The description said it was in NM condition. I’m wondering if it got rejected because they determined it wasn’t NM or if they actually thought it was a fake. I thought it was likely a 6 but was fine with that based on the price I paid so if it wasn’t fake I would have rather received the card. Does anyone know if this authentication service rejects cards if they think the card does not match a description regarding the quality of a raw card? That seems doubtful to me given how subjective grading is and give the grading standards vary somewhat from company to company. Maybe I’ll try contacting them to find out.

I recently saw a video that interviewed Probstein, and he said somethin like a raw card he sold was rejected by the Authenticator because the description in the eBay listing did not match the card -- I think he said the card had a dinged corner, and it was not mentioned in the eBay listing. So it sounds like the Authenticators are trying to make sure the card is described accurately in the listing.
I got my pack back from the authenticating center in record time~it was there only a day before being shipped back to me with a card stating the item did not qualify for the program due to it being listed in the incorrect category so to answer Dave's (paulmaul) earlier question, they won't do anything with a wax wrapper but ship it to you with a similar card if you happened to purchase it before the seller had an opportunity to relist it correctly. At least it was securely shipped and arrived unscathed.

I came across a graded card on eBay with a significant crack in the holder that says it is subject to the authenticity guarantee. Anyone have any idea how that would work? They say when they apply the guarantee to a graded card they check the holder for any signs of tampering. A big crack would seem to qualify as a sign of tampering. Does that mean that this card will never make it past the authenticator?

Let us know what happens. Have not read anywhere how they handle this.
I have a (dumb and overanalyzing) question, if someone would kindly indulge.
I rarely sell, but just sold a graded card subject to the authenticity guarantee. I am older and set in my ways. I have always made up packages the old fashioned way, and not printed a shipping label through eBay (not to mention no home printer). The email regarding the authenticity guarantee seems to only reference printing off the shipping label. I assume I’m still fine to manually write the package up with the (long) address given?
Are some consignment operations exempt from the authentication? Bought a $2,000 raw card from DCSports that I know had not been previously authenticated and it was shipped direct... no review by eBay at all. Was a bit surprised as I had a $300 card I bought the same week go thru the whole process

If you want to continue going without a printer, you might have to save the label as a PDF and email it to yourself, then go to your local library to print it out. I know it sucks, but some things will force you to evolve/conform.
I was purely just asking if it was “ok” to write out address. I could print one from work but that would have put me back shipping it by 2 days. Anyway, I didn’t see anything in the Guarantee rules about it, so I’m assuming it’s just as “ok” doing it with this as writing it out on a normal eBay package, so gonna go ahead with it.
I was in your exact spot a couple weeks ago. I wrote out the address by hand, mailed it to PSA (long address) with signature required, and everything worked out fine.
This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

Was card either an auto or patch card? Last I saw those were not included yet.

Shame on PSA for publishing the Goldin Auction with the picture of the fake slab under their "PSA Auction Prices Realized" section.
Also, that Goldin Auction with the Buyer Premium is almost a ~$20K crime. Yikes!

On card auto.... so that might be why
