    Good question?
Right now, I'm waiting for 8 coins I sent to PCGS almost 2 months ago. Hoping for straight grades and high grades!
Other than that. Maybe a PL PCGS graded Morgan Dollar? :*

A 1963 West Virginia Centennial set of 3 medals bronze, silver, platinum issued or sold to 20 people, only in WV, in a holder with their name engraved on it. A US Mint National Commemorative. I would offer 4k+ for one.

Capped or draped bust gold coin. It’s good to have dreams. Having the money is a different story, but maybe by selling all my non core coins/ duplicates / and working all year….

I am not seeking anything specific. As in recent years past, I just buy what interests me when I see it. Could be a new Mint issue (such as the CC privy this year), or just something I see on a dealers site. A fun way to collect (for me) with no pressure for set completion. Cheers, RickO

  • One of these days I'm just going to go full stoopid (can't even spell it) and buy a coin I always hoped to find in change as a kid, like a 1955 double die Lincoln cent or a 42/1 Mercury dime, or maybe both of them. Mercs still occasionally popped out of soda machines when I was a kid in the 70's but they were few and far between. I can't even find a copper cent in my change these days! Seriously! And there are just sooooooooo many fookin' quarters... no wonder kids don't collect coins anymore.

I've got 15 US and 3 foreign issues on my long term wish list. I will hope to acquire one of these items in 2022 and if I am exceedingly fortunate two or three.

I’m looking for something difficult enough to find right now I’d rather not say. This particular thing is a little hard to find but I’m picky. I’m looking for a good buy for an outstanding example in a specific grade range. That’s a whole different story. :(

I might settle for 2/3 of the above requirements, but I’m not going to sacrifice on quality.

This is the intro to a thread I initiated in 2018. Subsequent discourse included a rather heartfelt and poignant explanation by @CaptHenway of the differences between coins and medals.

I'm not sure if they were gold or "golden", but likely not of the fineness of Henry the Eighth the Second's personal commode.
I'll take an Original and/or a Restrike with or without a COA from Alex Jones.

The thread appeared May 25, 2018, when different management was moderating this Forum.

"Numismatic Disputes Disrupt North Korean Summit"
Rumors abound concerning a firestorm of controversy on an obscure coin-collectors' website involving a just-announced commemorative coin relating to the just-cancelled Trump-Kim summit meeting.

Chatroom denizen turned social media darling @CaptainAhab was quoted as saying "I'm lampooning this round metal object. Unless you believe in time travel, of course. Coin? Try to spend one yet?". World financial markets are currently trembling at this challenge to the credibility of the issuing authorit,, currently identified as the White House Gift Shop and International Hotel..

Esthetic opinion has been mixed, with heated exchanges, especially between third-grade crayola devotees and 8th grade metal shop theorists. Cartoonist/culture maven Stan Lee commented "Disney fired that artist in 1934. And those archetypes have been much more convincingly portrayed on Pee Wee's Playhouse. Get off my lawn".

Insiders (not him) relate that Supreme Leader Kim was not flattered by an image that "does not sufficiently recognize the status awarded him by the US news organization "The Onion" as the World's Sexiest Man". but American officials resist commenting on reports that North Korean hackers substituted an image of the currently embalmed Chairman Mao to pre-emptively sabotage the meeting.

National Security Advisor John Bolton stated "The President's hair looks better than a mushroom cloud, get my point? #Winning"

Secret Service officials have not yet commented on the few that have begun to show up on Ebay, but reports say they are already charging up their golf carts in readiness.

Plans for a Wall commemorative have been put on hold until algorithms currently used for tax policy are adapted to studies of time travel.

There's a couple Morgan type specimens I'd like to get. Waiting for all the vendors to reshuffle their wares after the FUN show. Unless there's some gold double liberties thatnwould take a priority over the Morgan's.

Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.

1853 Dollar for my slow growing mint set. In lieu of that a nice condition Seated Liberty Dollar of any date for my type set.

Narrowing it down... Maybe a dozen coins in all

    1) A stretch financially, a 1938d Buff in MS68
    2) A stretch in reality, a certain, typically unattributed VAM, in MS65
    3) A mini set of the reverses in AU or better 1878 8tf Vam in the 14's

1 and 2 are unlikely... 3 is realistic

    Nice thread.

    1. An 1841-O Small O Transitional Reverse dime, VF or better
    2. An 1876-S RPD dime
    3. An 1887-S/S dime

I really want to get ahold of some slabbed Dahlonega or Charlotte gold. Honestly, anything straight-graded is fine, as I understand the insane premium many of these coins already carry. If that does not pan out, I would like a "common" CC gold in any denomination.

Lastly, I will complete my Indian quarter set--just need 3 more dates.
