Yes, it is a rotated die based on your photos orientation. Also, it appears to be around 150 degree rotation. It would have to be examined in person to determine authenticity, of course.

It looks like there is a chance that there is a seam on the reverse rim, it may be a magic coin.

Take it out of the 2x2 and see if it has the proper "ring sound."

I would also investigate the possibility it’s a magician’s coin

I will check around this week but that would stink if its a magic coin...

It's still a cool coin! I have had lots of fun showing people the one I found. ;)

What looks like may be a seam can be seen in the photos, a little better photo would help.
It looks like the first S of states may have been shaved a little flat in the process.

Pardon my ignorance but how would i locate or see the seam. It looks like a normal reverse to me. You guys have some good eyes.

This is one I have and when I took the photo it was not pushed in all the way, you can see the seam a little better on this one.

The ringing sound will be different when compared to a regular one

Ring them off a counter top

Quality magician half dollar coins are not cheap. A good one is going to run 12 to 15 dollars if you can find one. Open it up, take pictures, put it on ebay and enjoy the money.

Drop it into a plastic jug and shake it vigorously a few times. It should pop open with no damage to the coin. I find these occasionally when roll searching. They're fun!

  • JimnightJimnight Posts: 10,846 ✭✭✭✭✭

Could be a magician's coin. You will need to exhaust that avenue first.

Sorry all. Ive been really busy at work these days and plus the holidays isn't really helping too.

I really hope I can check it out during my week off after Christmas!! Thanks for all you patients with me!

    Happy Holidays!

Ok guys!! I just took it out of the holder and took some pics. You let me know if it's a magic coin or not. When it comes to find, I still have a LOT to learn.

If I have time this week, I might bring it to a coin shop to see if it is a magic coin or not.

    Thanks guys!! Merry Christmas!!!

Easiest thing to do is weigh it.

Yes, it's a magician's coin. The seam shows much better than your prior photos. ;)

  • ifthevamzarockinifthevamzarockin Posts: 8,902 ✭✭✭✭✭

Tap it on the counter top hitting only the rim and it should pop open. :)

This shows the seam a little better, this is my coin.
