Texas dealer and show promoter David Pike has passed away from COVID

At the Grapevine, Texas coin show this weekend, I learned by this sign on the door that dealer David Pike (Liberty Rare Coins owner and ran the Grapevine show with his wife Ginger ) passed away Nov. 19. He was not vaccinated against COVID, and when he got sick, refused to go to the hospital.

Ginger became the sole owner of the show after a nasty divorce, just in time to have it shut down for almost a year due to COVID.

Local paper had a short article on the founder of Daystar Network who passed from Covid. He promoted alternative cures on his religious programs. I still don’t understand peoples unwillingness to get vaccinated.

Wow sorry to hear of his loss my condolences.

But it is happening to both vaccinated and unvaccinated so we can’t say because he was not vaccinated. It’s not just the unvaccinated getting sick and passing there are vaccinated getting sick and passing as well this is the norm from now on it’s never going a way, I saw it 1st hand at the fires take care of your self and stay healthy it’s scary but something we all need to do from now. Be safe out there.

If your sick stay home and take care of your self’s don’t pass it around. If you feel really bad go to the hospital to be treated it’s nothing to play with. Just be safe out there.

Did you speak to the Medical Examiner from the Coroner's Office?

I would think you would need to do that or have access to some official documentation as to the cause of death before
making an announcement.

There are plenty of people with all kinds of illnesses who refuse treatment for all kinds of reasons. That is their personal decision and we can't know why they made it.

It's a shame this thread will be locked.
Get vaccinated if you can. If Covid doesn't kill you, it will likely ruin your health for the rest of your life and will bankrupt you and your survivors should you pass.

The last statement is ridiculous. If 80% of the deaths and possibly 80% of the new cases are unvaccinated then that leaves 20% who were vaccinated spreading covid and dying. Get vaccinated and hopefully you will be safer and have a milder case if you get COVID. But blaming the unvaccinated for the spread is virtue signaling that we don’t need. Math is math science is science. This virus is going to be with us. Stop blaming others.

Just to correct the record 86% of deaths are unvaccinated as of Oct 1st and another 7% were only partially vaccinated. The remaining 7% who were fully vaccinated had 3 or more Comorbidities on average but that is admittedly only an avg.

I didn't know him personally but saw him at various California shows over the years.
I sold him a coin now and then. He seemed to be a nice guy.

I was using the above quoted numbers. Point being, there is no need to blame unvaccinated people for the spread or their own death. The virus will spread and mutate with or without.

David setup at Grapevine (his ex-wife Ginger ran/runs the show, even when they were together) and at Ed Stevens' show in Houston. I knew David and did business with him a couple of times, and always found him to be a good guy. Condolences to his family.

But no surprise. I didn't know him, and I offer condolences to his family. Obituaries rarely mention cause of death, because it's not relevant and would otherwise be intrusive, and now it produces polarizing opinions about the deceased. Disgusting, actually.

Always sad at passage of fellow numismatist but add that the science behind the vaccines is pristine and that it is important for those living to get their vaccine to limit the spread - IT DOES HAVE AFFECT. Let not his passage be in vain.

I wonder why so many refuse to take this seriously (Mr. Pike included when his death most likely could have been prevented)? When we send our coins in for grading we expect "experts" are grading them and take them at their word. But for some reason many seem to feel the EXPERTS in virology have no idea what they are talking about.
