Here's another one. A veteran collector gave a couple of these pieces to me for my counterfeit presentations.

A sad story. Years ago I was maning our club table at the FUN show. A woman can by with one of these pieces that her late husband had purchased. I felt badly having to tell her that is was not a real 1914-D cent, but someone had to do it.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Mark, I'm not sure if this is one of the five fakes as it's a fairly new listing, but it's a beaut !!

It looks like on of those Chinese counterfeits that had been roughed up to cover up its true status.

Yep, this alteration has been around for as long as I remember.

I wonder if they bothered to remove the V.D.B. from Lincolns shoulder?

Is it safe to say that these crooked sellers knows that they can list these for 1 day listings on the weekend and get them sold before ebay has a chance to do anything about?

We used to use a coin community watch group and we had more success there, but eBay dissolved it.

All we can do is report them and hope that eBay takes note and takes them down. There used to be a time when you could contact the bidder and inform them about fakes and problem items. eBay for business sake took this option away. You can't police everything.
    But, keep posting and reporting.
Completed auctions and sales should also be reported as ebay can reverse payments and declare the auction null and void.
