What a great wife!

Herb_THerb_T Posts: 1,755 ✭✭✭✭✭

She had asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I told her I would like coins from my birth year of 1955. Little did I know or even think about the 1955 Double Die penny…..but sure enough, she tracked one down! AU55!

She is the best!

    Amazing!
My wife axtually thinks coins are pretty neat herself and has a great collection of love token earrings and other such wearable exonumia.
The cool thing is that she has a girlfriend who's into that sort of thing too and got her hooked...I didn't even have to sell her on it!

That’s a nice one too - my wife would have screwed it up - would have graded “harshly cleaned, you idiot”

But she is good at other stuff 😝

Just one question.... does she have a sister? :p

Yes, two. Trust me, they are very different!

That's a really thoughtful gift. I bet those collectors born in 1916 aren't getting 16-D Mercs for their birthday.

My dad was born in 1923 and passed away two years ago. I put together a 1923 set in his honor. The ‘23 50 cent piece is pricy as is the $20 gold piece. When I see the coins now it puts my dad front and center again in my head….I sure do miss him.

Many years ago, my wife bought me an over-priced birth-year coin set (1947) from Littleton where every coin was cleaned. After 48 years of marriage, I think she's the best wife ever, but she just doesn't have the expertise to buy coins without the possibility of getting ripped-off. This is why I discourage family members from buying me coins. Your 1955 DDO cent is a great looking coin and one of my favorite varieties. I'm guessing you helped your wife pick that one out. ;)

That is a great gift. I do not ask for coins for birthday or Christmas... None of my family knows coins and could not pick out quality coins... My Mom was the last to give me coins... a couple of colorized ASE's... of course, they are a treasure as a gift from her. You got a good one... having that year as a birth year was certainly a contributing factor. Cheers, RickO

    What a wonderful wife. :)

Altho my wife has never bought me a coin, every single time I ask her if I should buy a coin on my mind, she say, "just buy it"

Nope! She did this all on her own. She has a real nice set of Morgan’s she has been collecting for over 40 years! She told me when she was about 9, that anytime she got any Pennie’s she was looking for the 1955 DD! She said she never found one and has now been able to hold one in her hand!
