Normally I wouldn't take pictures on a day like today because I use a mix of natural and incandescent light. It's dark and cloudy today. Because of that I'm not showing the nice underlying luster. This would be a good one for rotating video.

No plus from me, I see 53, and I know @ricko will be very very disturbed with this one
P.S. unless this is super looking in hand, and your photo skills have seriously deteriorated significantly today

technically I think it's an EF but with the nice toning I'd say it got an AU-50, but I would grade it an ef40 or ef45.
Although a bump up in an MS grade (such as MS63 to MS64) is possible, if a coin has the wear of an XF PCGS will not award the AU grade no matter how nice the surfaces or toning.

Good to know and I'm glad to hear that as I'm not a fan of bumping up a grade for toning (or luster).

Curious...I might try doing a video with my phone. Can that be uploaded to the site without a supporting sight like youtube or the like? My pictures really don't do this coin justice.

My gut was that the wear is pretty light and lustre seems decent. 53 is somewhat of an oddball grade, but that’s what came to mind, so that’s my guess.
You are seeing the same thing I am. The mark by "LIBERTY" kind of bothers me. Surfaces should be cleaner for the piece to be called XF-45, in my opinion. Besides, the band below "LIBERTY" is not complete. That alone should disqualify this 1895 Philly issue from XF-45 consideration. Sticking with XF-40 for this one.

Seems more people agree with me than not. I also believe some of the XF graders would change their opinion with an in hand viewing. This coin screams AU to me and I just figured PCGS wasn't a fan of the toning. I've been putting an AU set of Barber Dimes together and this coin is as nice or nicer than any of the 50's and 53's I've handled.

Lol, I obviously don't have enough speed to hit leadoff.
I would say AU50

XF-40. PCGS is tough on this date.

I'll guess AU50. Neat 1895. Looks original, but not really the type of toning I prefer.

Another vote for AU53
I’m in at 50
Wow, I’m surprised by the EF guesses! Surely this coin is a solid AU? I was actually thinking 55 or above.
I'm in the 50 camp.

If you could find a whole album full of those, man that would be something special....My guess is they are long gone now.
AU in my book. Let's say 55.
45 in my mind. Not a fan of the color, but that's just me.
50 is my guess also.
Really like the reverse!

Translation..... most of the guesses are too low.

Mid-AU. Too much luster for XF.
An XF45 downgraded to XF40 because of excessive marks for the grade. The toning tends to hide the many marks.
I might be high but 53

Enough wear to make me question this high of a grade, but I think it might be a 53 (or maybe a 50)

The obverse looks even worse in the second set of photos.
It's time for the grade.
It's an attempt to show the underlying luster! They say 48 hours is the rule of thumb for grade reveal!

Well, looks like I was wrong.
No, on second thought, PCGS was wrong and I, as usual, was right.
