Trying to curtail my card addiction to save $$. At the same time, I can’t completely give it up. While I collect mostly vintage, I’ve started to dabble in modern. The 90s stuff speaks to me as I grew up in that era. I’ve found the 90s Pinnacles, Topps Chrome Refractors, and other 90s inserts fun to collect while not breaking the bank. Not a lot of value in these but these bring me back to my days as a young collector
I believe the Starting Lineup cards are some of the more overlooked/undervalued items from the junk wax era. I really only search for them in raw form, but whenever I'm alerted to one that's already graded, I often can't resist. The 1989 Braves figures are known as a regional short print, and are some of the toughest to find. This Ron Gant PSA 9 is a POP 1, Highest Graded.
.
I've mostly focused on the SLU baseball cards, and Barry is a relatively tough one to find, as well, as the Pirates were somewhat short printed.
.
However, I did pick up a 23 card mixed lot of Baseball, Basketball, and Football, including a Pippen rookie with 4 slightly touched corners. Here are some of the highlights from that lot. The Elway, Taylor, and Olajuwon are all pretty sweet in hand.
I am really excited to add this one to the fold. While corners are where you can make the big money, let them go and you can save a ton and still get a beautiful card. That’s always been my thought process with respect to vintage cards. Part of that is price driven, of course, but part is the simple fact that the other attributes of a card matter as much of not more to my eye. In fact until I was about 11, I thought vintage cards came with rounded corners. 😂 So despite the two obviously flawed corners, the rest of this card leapt out at me - great clarity for this specific release, really nice centering left to right and a little off but not distractingly so top to bottom. Surface is clean as is the back and from one of the more classic sets around. I also love the fact that it’s also free advertising for something that was just starting to pop up in America…

Imagine after all those years you have 5 working days left to go a true dream for many. I would call and take the week off and call it more than well deserved.

Neat to see how he was 3rd in home runs on the back of the card. What is interesting is that when he retired the HR list was Ruth -1, Foxx - 2, Mantle - 3, Williams - 4. Amazing how in about 6 years it would change dramatically with Aaron, Mays, Killebrew, Robinson all taking up spots 1, 3, 4, and 5.
Speaking of the back just noticed on the 1961 season next to the runs there is a big black mark like an ink dot from a pen. What the heck is it?

My favorite Mantle. Many actually hate the card. I used to tell people at card shows that it was my favorite and they would all give a bad look.
Picked these up today at a local junk shop. $5 for about 25 of them. I have never seen pre-cut sheets like this. Not much value to them I don’t think but I thought they were neat. Does anyone know if PSA will grade these? I wouldn’t really care if they graded well I would just like to have a few slabbed to preserve them.

Six card panels were common inserts inside of kids' magazines in the late 70s/early 80s that you could purchase through Scholastic Book Club orders in elementary school. Dynamite magazine is one that I specifically recall having them inside. I believe many of the leftover supply that never made it into the magazines are commonly available on eBay.
I received this surprise Christmas gift last week from a board member and was absolutely floored! I really can’t express my gratitude in words, though I’ve tried several times. Love all 3 of those guys, especially Evans, who is one of my top 2 favorite players of all time. Sorry for the shoddy camera work and the Christmas tree glare. If you can’t tell, the piece is autographed by all 3 guys and each player has a bat card and a jersey card included. Amazing piece! Which now hangs in my living room because I have an awesome wife. Thanks again, my friend, truly!
Here is a couple of atypical items (at least for me), two pretty clean, near complete sets - but with the uniform numbers of each player written neatly on the back of about 2/3 of the 1960 set, and about 1/6 of the 1962 set (the low numbers). Seemed like a decent value for the cards with no writing that may present some upgrade opportunities for my main sets.

Wow, some strong 7s on the first page that look like 8s, that 86 Jordan sticker that is 100% worthy of the 10 grade, the PSA 8 1971 Mike Ryan looks like a 9, the 62s and 60s on this page, that 71 Rose— was a fun browse.
I reeled in a monster fish today with this early Babe. With the m101 and the 1917s having left our solar system, this is really the one when it comes to early Ruth, pre-Goudey Ruth, with Ruth pitching. It is a 1915 spring training Ruth image - taken at the the Red Sox spring facility in Hot Springs Arkansas. Has not left my hands all day. Consolidated a ton of 60s-80s stuff to make it happen yet never been happier with a collection decision. Been dying to pair an early Ruth pitching card with my #144 for a while now.

If you didn't see Michael Jordan's debut ticket stub sold for a record $264K recently through Huggins and Scott Auctions. Tickets to me are still undervalued due to the low pops and the scarcity of tickets. I was able to purchase this Aaron Rodgers signed debut ticket a few weeks ago.

Picked up a tough one for my '59 set.
Now back to needing 4 again for the '55 Bowman HOF set (still trying to find them!!).
Picked up the '66 Mays from Net54 - glad to add it as it had been on my want list for a long time.
The '64 Stand-Up is from James - JFKHEAT - Thanks!!!
The '55 Double Header is an addition I wanted for my Banks run.
The '67s are towards my multi-player cards with at least one HOF.
The '68 Leader is toward my '68 HOF set.
The '59 Hodges I just really liked the card.

two nice pickups for me. IP Tatis Jr auto and a 2004 Fleer Genuine Article Auto Gold /20 Wade auto.
myslabs.to/smzcards
I have not picked up as much lately , as I have been traveling for work. I did get this one in from COMC while gone
Then did a show this afternoon. Grabbed some bulk stuff in a deal. Then grabbed both of these 2 cards. Both are out of the norm pickups for me.
1. I hate cards with Qualifiers especially OC and I am not a fan of multi player cards
2 not big on buy back autos, but could not pass either up.
As a fan of multi player cards I think you bought the greatest multi-player card of all time. Nice pickup.
It’s one of the best for sure, but this is my personal fave:
