1794 Large Cent - 3rd of 3 New Pieces - GTG (Revealed)

You may have seen my two earlier threads on new coins added to my small collection and this is the one for which I'm most excited. I absolutely love early copper but the entry price is bracing. So, as a type collector, I want my acquisitions to be "on the money" for my tastes and this coin becomes my most expensive purchase. I was originally after an Apple Cheeks variety to serve for type, but this S-21 version fits the bill just fine.
This coin is from the collection of EAC member George Trostel who passed away in February. It comes from a recent auction and the picture shows an orangish color. In hand, the coin is NOT ORANGE in any way and is a pleasingly consistent milk chocolate color.
Would you like to guess the grade? The pics below have been slightly photoshopped around the edges to remove the four ugly NGC white prongs.
BTW - today's my 62nd birthday so, if you'd like to share an early copper coin in this thread (half or large cent), that would be a nice present to me!

Congrats! There's quite a bit of detail on that so it looks like a nice specimen.
Sorry to hear about George Trostel passing, but glad his provenance was noted.
Thanks for the note on color and "orangeshift". From the photos, it almost looks like a recolored coin. Hope you'll be able to get other photos for it.
Here's a cent to celebrate your birthday! It's amazing to think these coins are 7 years apart and what those 7 years must have been like for our young country.
Well I know the grade and have already heaped praise on it, but I'll heap more praise and bump it for you!
And for your birthday (just the images!):
EAC, NGC or both?
An interesting thing I found about EAC grades, is that there can be multiple EAC grades for a coin and the grader names are listed along side the grade.
@Catbert Happy Birthday
TPG grade 🙃

VF35
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday! That is a fantastic early cent, I am jealous! I would guess XF45?
Happy Birthday Catbert! I have just a few coppers but none imaged. I will guess XF40, a very nice coin though regardless of the grade.
Happy Birthday, @Catbert !! That's a gorgeous early cent. I really like (attractive) old copper, but for some reason don't own any (yet). I really don't know how to grade these, but I'll say it looks something like XF40.
I’ll give it a 45, happy birthday 🌬🎂
Here’s a half cent to celebrate 🌞

Have always been enamoured with the 1 over 1 variety Mr. Spud! Nice!

Happy Birthday! Nice coin!
I'll guess XF 40- Happy Birthday!
One of the great things about the S-21 is that it was the Sheldon reverse B which was used on the Head of 1793 variety, 1794 cents. Therefore you can get "half" of piece that has some roots going back to the short lived mint engraver. Joseph Wright.
Now to show you up, but I have the same variety for my 1794 cent. This one was in the Dan Holms, Sheldon large cent variety collection. This coin is so elegant, it's hard to believe that it was only an humble cent made for commerce. The obverse picture was shot at an angle to pick up the wonderful design detail that is on this coin.
This "straight on" shot doesn't cut it.
I also have the 1797 1 over 1 half cent. This was my first nice half cent from this era. Some people apply the word "common" to this variety, but that does not take into account how many of these coins were made from worn-out dies. This one got bounced back to me in a body bag when I tried to get it graded so it's still raw.
This 1795 half cent does have the highest grade on the slab among the pre-1800 half cents I have, but it's be best one in my opinion. It was struck with fresh dies.
Happy Birthday, my friend!!
Looks like VF 35.
Splendid...

Nice coin, 35+/40- to me.
Right on the line.

I apologize for the delay in providing the answer to my GTG challenge. I was travelling and did not think to update this thread for closure. It's in a NGC XF45 slab. My take is that it's a PCGS 40 equivalent. I may attempt a cross for this coin simply because I dislike white prongs.

Herez my only half cent
I'll guess 35
Tom
Catbert, once you clarified that the color was not orange tinted, I liked the coin. Minimal surface issues, even color. From the reverse, I would have guessed MS 40-45, as I had a 1/2 Cent with that reverse, and I though I could grade it adequately. Don't have any, nor I have I seen enough cents with that obverse to feel comfortable grading said obverse.
