Completed IHC Set

Here is my recently completed FE&IHC set....still have room for upgrades over time. Took around 4 years to get this far. Thirty-seven are crack-outs, eight are from Rick Snow, the rest from various other sources.

What would be the top three pieces of advice you would give to someone starting a similar collection?
I am very impressed. Great job! I specialize in Lincoln Cents but started the collection at 1900 so I have the mint and proof Indians since then.
It is good that your holder does includes the major varieties. Are you planning on adding the 1856 and/or the proofs?
That's pretty easy:
1. Don't buy coins just to fill holes...save up and buy the best you can afford for what you are targeting, like RD, RB or BN coins, and target grade for your set.
2. Learn how to grade and identify cleaned copper coins, not as easy as may seem sometimes!
3. Learn market price for every coin in the set so you don't over pay and more importantly..when you may have found an underpriced coin.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing. Do you plan on acquiring a few of the other varieties like the pointed bust 1860, or bold N and shallow N?
That is an outstanding set!!
Maybe...I was considering trying to complete a variety set but not sure if I want that long term a project. My set does have the 1960 Pointed Bust, several dates with clashed dies, the 1871 is a bold N, and the 1874 is the Snow S7 (die chip in neck) > @jedm said:
Cool. When I completed my IHC set (not in anywhere near as high grades as yours) the collecting bug was still biting, so I continued to get a few of the varieties and then had to customize my Dansco a bit. Yours is very nicely displayed in the Capitol holder.
Oh the rush one gets when that 100% completion is your set.
Very nice accomplishment.

Kennedys are my quest...
that is an honest to god super set and I love that it is raw in a capital holder. Something to be proud of

Very nice set. I have a set but not as nice as yours. Most of my sets are in capital holders also. They make a great presentation.
Again with the wonderful accomplishment. Great looking set. You've been busy.
Congrats.

Gorgeous set and display!
I probably wouldn’t have been bold enough to crack out Rick Snow coins (assuming these had his Eagle 🦅 eye endorsement).
Nice, but boring...
Beautiful set, well done.

Congrats on completing the set. It looks very nice.
Your set would make a great pairing to my Lincoln set I completed recently.
Congratulations. That is one set that I started as a kid and never finished.
So impressive! Well done!
I worked on a similar set about 20 years ago (in XF) and got about 1/2 way home before breaking it up and selling the pieces. This makes me wish I had finished.
Beautiful set of old copper!!!
