Decided to rebuild my Liberty Nickel set. Here is the first new addition!
A couple of years ago, I sold off my set so I could change gears with collecting. However, I knew I wanted to rebuild it one day, so I kept the key dates. Been kicking tires for a while now, but this one spoke to me as it has a great strike, smooth cheek and attractive toning too! I welcome your comments to the first addition on my way to rebuilding it.

Nice, like the color
That's a nice piece that I would certainly be happy with.

That's a beauty!
That's a great looking coin! If they could be found like that with any frequency I would imagine the series would be much more popular.

I look forward to seeing your rebuilt set - great start!

Very nice start.
I was watching that one due to the re-punched 1.

Very nice! That looks gorgeous! Congrats on restarting the collection!
@erwindoc
Nice coin. Which keys did you keep and in what grades?
@erwindoc
Do you have photos of your key keepers? Would love to see them.

Jason, this is a beauty. Super color too.
I’ve considered assembling a set for years, but I’ve somehow fought the urge. I’d love an MS set with this kind of look.

Nice way to jump back in, beautiful coin.
Beautiful Nickel - really like that subtle toning.

I kept the 1885 in MS64 CAC, 1886 in 64, and the 12S in ol' NGC fatty 65. I also kept the 1883 NC as a type coin in MS66 and it has so much character! Images posted below. Probably should have kept the 1888, 1894 and 1912D, but I wanted to upgrade them anyway!
nice
Very nice
Well you have a great head start on the rebuild project, Jason!
That 12S is one of the nicest I’ve seen.
That is a very nice nickel... Quality coin indeed. Will look great with the rest of your set as you rebuild it. Cheers, RickO
I have an old Liberty nickel out of print reference on V nickels that date shows a proof with a repunched date ,but this one isnt listed. Is it a new RPD?

a well struck Liberty Nickel is a thing of beauty!! Evan Gale used to have quite a number of the, I remember trying to make a purchase from him at the Pittsburgh ANA around 2005 or so. he never seemed to be at his table so the deal never took place and I sort of let the Set fade away.
to that end, you never really "sold off" your set, that was probably a smart move on your part.
Nice well-struck coin - plenty of detail in the ears of corn.
Excellent choice to begin your set again….and with loads of eye appeal!
Very nice 1885, too!
Dave
Thought you might like it!
That's going to be a helluva set once again.....Nice !
beautiful

Nice restart on your collection.
Your coins are gorgeous and I can see that it will take some time to complete it.
It is a hard find to complement what you have in hand.

Kennedys are my quest...
That a beautiful looking coin, congrats
The 1898 has nice color, is fully struck, and has clean surfaces, except for that color break dot between stars 10 and 11, which I don't think is material, but I should mention. Getting coins in this series with nice color is difficult.
Have no idea of the coin's grade, because it would depend on its eye appeal, which I can't tell from the pic. Years ago, an attractive, mark free coin with even satin luster often got into an MS 66 holder without a problem. I have some of them.

Nice coin, I have a few somewhere I haven’t looked out in years. Place holder to go find them
